DRIVERS WANTED

StraightLine Shuttle is looking for reliable, professional drivers to join our team.

This is initially an on-call/relief position, so flexibility is important and some shifts may become available on short notice. For the right person, this position has the potential to develop into a full-time role.

The role includes driving company passenger vehicles on our scheduled shuttle routes, assisting guests with luggage, and providing the safe, courteous and professional service our guests expect.

Drivers must be physically able to safely lift and load passenger luggage into the vehicle’s rooftop cargo box when required.

Drivers are also responsible for cleaning and preparing their assigned vehicle at the end of each shift so that it is ready for the following day’s service.

Applicants must:

- Hold a valid Class 3 driver’s licence
- Have a clean driver’s abstract
- Have a strong ability to use vehicle and digital technology, including mobile apps, navigation, messaging and other digital tools used in daily shuttle operations
- Be dependable, punctual, professional and comfortable working with the public
- Be able to work independently and manage their time efficiently
- Be physically capable of safely handling and lifting passenger luggage

Assets would include:

- Previous professional driving or passenger transportation experience
- Strong customer service or hospitality experience
- Familiarity with both Yarmouth–HRM corridors
- Experience using mobile technology, navigation and digital scheduling tools
- Experience driving in winter and long-distance highway conditions

Successful applicants will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract prior to employment.

There's a section of Highway on the 103 between kilometers 105 and about 110 that has the most brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows I've ever seen.

Well, here we are... fall is here already.

The leaves are starting to turn along the highway and the mornings have that crisp feel again. Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away, so if you're planning a trip home (or picking someone up from the city), now's a good time to grab your seats before the long weekend fills up.

Five cruise ship visits are scheduled for Yarmouth between September 24 and October 12.

The first, Silver Wind, arrives this Thursday, September 24, followed by Crystal Symphony, Le Bellot and Le Lyrial in October.

It will be great to see these ships in Yarmouth Harbour and even better to see visitors exploring our community.

Over the years, some pretty remarkable people have taken a seat in our vehicles.

I've heard their stories, shared a few belly laughs, and sometimes been part of moments I'll never forget.

As StraightLine makes its way toward its fourth year serving communities across Nova Scotia, I find myself thinking more and more about the people I've met along the way.

Thousands of kilometres. Countless conversations. Familiar faces who keep coming back, and new ones I have the pleasure of meeting every day.

I'm incredibly grateful for all of it.

Thank you for choosing StraightLine, for trusting us with your travels, and most of all, for the connections we've made along the way.

Those connections have become one of the very best parts of what I do.

2 years ago, while shuttling on the highway heading toward the city, we saw 4 black bears. The first sighting was 3 in a group crossing the highway and the second time was a single bear crossing the highway. Both times they were near Barrington. Today, we saw another one. This one was huge. Just past the main Barrington exit.

This is a very good sign for Yarmouth and the surrounding area.

Next up: Passenger flights back at the Yarmouth Airport.

The Coastal Financial Credit Union Wellness Centre sign is lighting up the Yarmouth night sky! ✨

It’s another exciting milestone along the way. The sign will be lit for one night only until we get closer to opening, which is currently expected for the beginning of the new year.

I’m told the pool is also expected to see water testing begin in the next couple of weeks. 🏊‍♂️

Each step brings this incredible community project closer to becoming a reality.

One step at a time. One milestone at a time. We’re getting there! 💙
