16 new apprentices. 3 locations. 1 exciting journey ahead! ✈️🚀

This summer, we welcomed 13 new apprentices in Zurich, 2 in Geneva and 1 in Basel to the Swissport family.

From Passenger Services and Cargo to Digital Business, together with login Berufsbildung, we give apprentices hands-on experience across different areas of aviation, helping them discover new fields, develop their skills and bring fresh ideas to our teams. In total, we are training 46 apprentices in 4 different trades.

We’re proud to invest in the next generation of aviation professionals, and many of our apprentices go on to build their careers with Swissport.

Welcome aboard! We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you.

🎉 We recently celebrated a very special milestone: 30 years of Swissport.

To mark the occasion, we’ve been looking back through the archives at some of the incredible colleagues who have helped shape our journey.

The faces featured here represent just a handful of our 63,000 colleagues around the world, whose expertise, dedication and teamwork support airlines, airports and passengers every day. From the gate to the ramp and everywhere behind the scenes, they help make aviation happen from landing to take-off.

Our Global Safety Month is back 🙌

Safety is part of everything we do, from ground handling and cargo to our lounges, and every one of us has a role to play.

Throughout September, our second annual global iCare Safety Month will bring 63,000 colleagues across our network together to share expertise, learn from each other and keep strengthening our safety culture.

🎉 Celebrating 30 Years of Swissport

Bruno's aviation journey began in 1991, when he joined Swissair aged just 18 on a Ground Handling and Cargo training programme.

More than three decades later, he has seen technology transform how we plan operations, deploy our teams and serve our customers. His career has evolved alongside it, taking on more than ten different roles, from frontline operations to leading our Switzerland, Italy & France region as CEO today.

As we celebrate 30 years of Swissport, he reflects on the changes he’s witnessed, the lessons aviation has taught him and his advice for the next generation.

✈️ The next generation of aviation professionals starts here.

Building safe, reliable airport operations for the future means inspiring the people who will make them happen.

That’s why we’ve worked alongside the Aviation Industry Skills Board (AISB) and Springpod on a new Virtual Work Experience programme, giving 16–18-year-olds the chance to discover what a career in aviation is really like.

Bringing our ground handling expertise to the programme, Swissport leads the Ground Operations Ramp Agent module, using real-world scenarios to introduce students to the safety, teamwork and operational excellence behind every flight.

By making work experience more accessible, we’re helping more young people discover the opportunities aviation has to offer.

A lot can change in 24 years. Daniel has seen it first-hand. 👏

As we celebrate 30 years of Swissport, we’re sharing stories from colleagues across our global network who have helped shape our journey.

He joined us in Nairobi in 2002. Since then, he’s worked across different parts of the operation and seen plenty of change along the way. Today, he leads our ground handling operation at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

For Daniel, one of the biggest transformations has been how we build expertise across our teams, combining global training and standards with the experience and knowledge of our colleagues to deliver safe, consistent performance.

More than two decades on, he has plenty of lessons to share with the next generation.

A lot has changed in 30 years.

But 1996 was also the year Swissport’s story began.

Thirty years ago, Rodica took a leap into the unknown, leaving a career in education behind to start a completely new chapter in aviation at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse.

With no previous experience in the industry, Rodica started from scratch, learning the world of cargo operations and building her expertise along the way.

Today, three decades later, Rodica reflects on a career shaped by continuous learning, resilience and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

When temperatures rise, looking after our colleagues becomes more important than ever. ☀️

Across our Swiss stations, we've put a range of heat protection measures in place to help our frontline teams stay safe and comfortable throughout the summer, including:

💧 Water and electrolyte drinks
🧴 High-SPF sunscreen
❄️ Additional recovery breaks and dedicated cooling areas
👥 Reinforced staffing on particularly hot days
🌫️ Whenever possible, a fine cooling mist created using de-icing vehicles around aircraft stands

A big thank you to all our colleagues working through the summer heat. Your dedication helps keep passengers and cargo moving safely every day. 👏
