A short walk. A flight of stairs. Getting up from a chair.
For people living with knee osteoarthritis, everyday movement can be challenging.
This World Arthritis Day, research offers a reason to discuss knee bracing. A PLOS ONE analysis of 139 randomized trials involving 9,644 patients ranked bracing favorably for pain, stiffness, physical function and pain during activity.
How can a brace help?
🔹 Load redistribution: An appropriately selected unloading brace can shift some load away from an affected knee compartment.
🔹 Stability support: External support may help the knee feel steadier during movement.
🔹 Sensory feedback: Some soft braces provide mild compression and feedback that may improve awareness of joint position.
Different braces work differently. Fit, comfort and the affected part of the knee matter—and favorable research rankings do not mean the same brace will suit everyone.
At SIMPLE, we focus on support that connects these clinical needs with everyday wearability. Ask your healthcare professional whether knee bracing could complement your non-surgical OA care plan.
