HOW TO GET HERE

Take the bus from Bogota to Suesca (1 hour) or, if you are driving, take the Autopista Norte towards Gachancipa and, after El Carajo restaurant (near the entrance to Sesquile), cross the bridge and drive towards Suesca. Pass the Bogota river, turn right on Carrera 3 Calle 4 by El Antiguo Matadero and continue for 2km on the dust road (keeping always to the right) until the end of the road.

Our family-run lodge and camping ground offer a great place to stay for backpackers, climbers and regular visitors. Staying here will give you a real sense of Colombian countryside and hospitality. Surrounded by a beautiful landscape you can spend your days hiking, climbing, caving, mountain biking or horse riding. And, needless to say, after a strenuous day outdoors there’s nothing better than spending an evening feasting by the Colombian barbecue. Part of our lodge is dedicated to a small farm where our livestock roams freely and where we produce our own homemade dairy products: milk, butter and cheese. On the nearby boulders you will find pictograms painted by the indigenous Muisca who inhabited this land before Spanish colonization.

Suesca’s biggest attraction is, of course, the bare vertical rock face known locally as Las Rocas which runs along the valley of Bogota river. With over 300 routes of almost every level this place will challenge any climber - from the beginner to the most experienced one. If you are new to rock climbing we can help and arrange an English speaking guide as well as a rental of an essential gear. We will also assist you with organizing any other activity you might be interested in.

Refugio Guitaca offers a variety of accommodation with prices suitable for everyone: from the traditional Colombian cabanas and en suite private rooms with everyday cleaning service to dormitories and a designated camping area. On the site our guests will find everything they need: kitchen, barbecue and communal areas, toilets and hot showers.
