Dominique’s review reminded us of the real reason we do this. When Francis and Henry pulled over, set up the scope, and helped spot a sloth hanging in the trees—that wasn’t on a schedule. That was just two locals who are passionate about being of service, excited to share a piece of their home.

Whether it’s stopping for a quick photo by a hidden waterfall, taking time for a good meal with a view, or just sharing stories along the way, we want to be remembered as the team that went out of their way to make you feel like family.

Tonight, the streets of La Fortuna light up with a tradition that goes back more than two centuries.

Every September 14th, the entire country halts for the Desfile de Faroles. Students walk through their towns carrying handmade paper lanterns—crafted into oxcarts, small houses, and national symbols—with candles glowing inside.

The tradition honors September 1821, when citizens in Guatemala City carried torches through the dark to gather outside the palace while the Act of Independence was signed, spreading the news of Central American freedom down the region.

Moments like this show the true heart of our home—vibrant communities, deep tradition, and shared pride right under the peak of Arenal.

The beauty of Costa Rica is that the jungle has its own schedule. We can’t guarantee you’ll see a danta (Baird’s tapir) on your way to your destination, but we can guarantee a relaxing, stress-free ride while you look for them. 😌

Fun Fact: despite being the largest native land mammal in Central America, dantas are incredibly fast runners and fantastic swimmers. They love hanging out near rivers to cool off.

Travel is always better when it’s shared, and we genuinely love helping travelers make their days out a little more special✨

We helped this lovely group plan a relaxed day trip to La Fortuna, and their itinerary was a perfect mix of adventure and downtime. Here is how they spent their day:

• 7:00 AM: Pickup with birthday balloons and fresh coconuts for the drive.

• 10:00 AM: A morning walk down to La Fortuna Waterfall for a swim.

• 1:00 PM: Drop-off at Baldi Hot Springs for lunch and a long afternoon of hanging out in the thermal pools.

The best part of a private day trip like this is that nobody in your group has to worry about driving, directions, or parking. Everyone gets to just sit back, chat, and relax.
