OPERATION ANTHROPOID - May 27, 1942
Operationa Anthropoid was the code name for the assassination of one of the main architects of the “Final Solution”, SS-Obergruppenführer and acting Reichsprotektor of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, Reinhard Heydrich.
The operation was carried out in Prague on May 27, 1942, prepared by the British Special Operations Executive with the approval of the Czechoslovak government-in-exile.
Wounded in the attack, “The Butcher of Prague” Heydrich died of his injuries on June 4, 1942.
This was the only targeted assassination of a senior N**i leader during the WWII..
