⚓ Three vessels. One mission. 17 RTGs bound for Africa.

At Zhenhua Heavy Industries' Nantong base, 17 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) were successfully loaded for transport to Walvis Bay, Namibia.

🚢🚢🚢 What made this project remarkable was the coordinated deployment of three COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers vessels: DA XIANG, DA XIN and DA AN. Working together, they transported a full shipment of large-scale port equipment under a demanding schedule and strict third-party inspection requirements.

🤝 Despite the tight preparation timeline, the project team successfully coordinated vessel allocation, terminal operations and loading activities, including night-time work, to keep the project on track. Leveraging the vessels' heavy-lift capabilities and large deck space, all 17 RTGs were loaded successfully and passed inspection at the first attempt!

Upon arrival in Walvis Bay, the equipment will help increase port efficiency and throughput capacity at one of Southern Africa's key Atlantic gateways, supporting trade growth across the region. 🌍🚢

Projects like this highlight the expertise, flexibility and required to move critical infrastructure across continents.

🎓🚢 Learning beyond the classroom

A group of 55 students and teachers from western China recently travelled to Fujian for a week-long summer camp combining cultural experiences with an introduction to the maritime world.

Organised by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the COSCO SHIPPING Foundation, the programme gave participants the opportunity to explore traditional culture, visit CSP Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal, and gain first-hand insights into port operations, shipping and ocean-related industries.

From experiencing local music traditions to seeing global trade in action at one of China's leading container terminals, the students were able to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. 🎵⚓🏗

By opening doors to new places, industries and perspectives, programmes like these help young people broaden their horizons and discover new opportunities for the future.

A new milestone for COSCO SHIPPING's bulk fleet: the 80,000 DWT multi-purpose grain carrier GUO LIANG HAI has officially been delivered and entered service.

As the sixth vessel in its series, she is part of the world's first 80,000 DWT vessel class specifically designed for grain transportation. But grain is only part of the story.

Thanks to its innovative design, the vessel combines the efficiency of a bulk carrier with the flexibility of a multi-purpose ship. In addition to commodities such as soybeans, maize and wheat, it can also transport:

🚆 Rolling stock and rail equipment
🚗 New energy vehicles

📖 Priceless pieces of cultural heritage returned home: We delivered two volumes of the Yongle Dadian from France to China!

More than 600 years old, these rare books presented unique logistics challenges. Fragile paper, combined with extreme sensitivity to temperature, humidity, vibration and air pressure, meant that every detail of the journey had to be carefully planned and controlled.

To ensure their safe arrival, our team managed the entire process, from customs clearance to final delivery, and developed a dedicated five-layer protection system:

📜 Wrapped in oil paper
🛡️ Sealed in a protective bag
☁️ Placed in a custom-designed foam box
🛄 Secured inside a suitcase
📦 Protected by a specially built wooden crate with cushioning on all sides

Our team recently completed exactly that, successfully loading a 120-metre new-energy support vessel onto a semi-submersible barge in a single operation.
