After spending time on the road with our drivers, our trainees have experienced first-hand that logistics is about much more than moving goods from A to B. It's about planning, problem-solving, collaboration and building strong customer relationships.

They've seen how accurate information can make all the difference and how experience, flexibility and local knowledge help keep operations running smoothly.

Most importantly, they've gained a deeper understanding of the people they work with every day.

By experiencing each other's reality, we strengthen collaboration across the transport chain – and ultimately create better solutions for our customers.

Sometimes the most valuable thing on a route isn't the cargo – it's the relations.

After joining one of our drivers, trainee Mathias discovered how well our drivers know their customers, their locations and their daily routines. Those relations build trust, solve challenges and make great service possible.

As our driver Ulrik says:
"The most important thing is doing the job as well as possible, so everyone has had a good experience when the day is done."

Even the best plan needs room for the unexpected.

After joining one of our drivers for a day, trainee Magne gained a new appreciation for the realities of life on the road.

From waiting times at loading sites to roadworks and changing routes, he experienced how quickly a well-planned day can change – and how important it is to stay flexible.

"Sometimes we forget in the office that waiting times and unexpected delays are part of a driver's everyday reality."

Experiences like these help our trainees understand the realities of transport and strengthen the collaboration between colleagues on the road and in the office.

One lesson stood out after a day on the road:

A driver's job is about much more than driving.

Trainee Benjamin experienced first-hand how every day also includes loading, unloading, documentation and customer dialogue.

Experiences like these create a deeper understanding of the people who keep supply chains moving every day.

What surprised our trainees most when joining a driver on the road?

Planning.

Every delivery depends on careful planning, accurate information and the ability to adapt along the way.

Trainees Ronni and Kasper quickly discovered just how much preparation goes into every delivery.

"Missing contact details or references can easily cost 5–10 minutes at each stop," Ronni reflected after his day on the road.

Kasper was equally impressed by how experienced drivers constantly reorganise the trailer while already planning several stops ahead.

One takeaway stood out for both of them: accurate information matters. The right information helps keep the entire operation running smoothly.

That's why our trainees spend time on the terminal, join sales colleagues in the field and ride along with our drivers to experience logistics from different perspectives.

After nearly four decades with Blue Water, Ronald Hansen today steps into retirement.

For 38 years, Ronald has been a familiar face at our office in Odense - known to colleagues, customers and partners alike for his approach to work and relationships.

Today, colleagues past and present, customers and family came together to celebrate a remarkable career.

In his own words, Ronald summed up what has guided him throughout the years.

"I've always aimed to treat customers and colleagues the same way I want to be treated: keeping my word, being respectful and humble and always aiming to be a decent human being. Because I believe that when relations become trust, then trust becomes the beginning of business."

Looking ahead, Ronald is ready for a new chapter.

"I look forward to spending more time with my friends, my family and my grandchildren - being the grandfather who says 'yes' when their parents say 'no'. And I'd be surprised if I didn't also spend more time on the golf course."

Today, we are proud to mark 2 years with no LTI among our own personnel in Esbjerg.

At the terminal, the milestone was celebrated together with our colleagues, where our CEO Thomas Bek addressed the team and thanked everyone for their dedication to keeping safety at the centre of our operations every single day.

In Port Services, Dare2Care is part of the way we work. Building and maintaining a strong safety culture takes commitment and teamwork across every operation.

Over the past two years, our own operational personnel in Esbjerg have completed 259,000 working hours across terminal, multiterminal and stevedoring operations. During that time, the teams have handled more than 20,000 components and 40,000 containers, while servicing 1,900 vessels with stevedoring and 1,300 vessels with agency services.

A huge thank you to everyone in Esbjerg for your commitment and dedication. This achievement belongs to all of you.

Today, we are celebrating our valued colleagues marking 25 years with Blue Water by welcoming them to our headquarters in Esbjerg.

At Blue Water, we believe that trust is built through long-lasting relationships. With our people as our most important asset, we value the commitment it takes to stay with one company for more than a quarter of a century.

Our jubilarians have spent the day reconnecting with where our story began in 1972 - touring the Esbjerg harbour, visiting Blåvand Fyr, from which our name originates, and of course gathering for an informal reception with all HQ colleagues and a celebratory dinner.

Mireia Mulet, who joined Blue Water back in 2000 and today works as a Forwarding Agent within Import Sea at our Barcelona office, reflects on her journey with Blue Water:

"I've grown up with Blue Water. During these years, I found my husband and became a mother. I believe I've stayed with Blue Water because I've been given the opportunity to develop: as an employee, as a person and as a woman. I feel part of a big, global family.

During my time here, I've seen our Barcelona office grow from a small, local set-up into a fully integrated part of a truly global company. Many people have come and gone, and with the experience I've gained, I'm proud to pass on my knowledge to a new and ambitious generation, while continuing to be part of Blue Water's growth."
