Heading to Copenhagen? 🇩🇰 Save this
First time in the city? Explore city from the air! 🚁
These are 7 landmarks to look out for when flying over Copenhagen by helicopter ✨
1️⃣ Nyhavn
The colorful townhouses lining the old harbor, which is also the city's most photographed postcard view. It used to be a bustling commercial port where merchant ships from all over the world docked, filled with sailors, taverns, and historic wooden vessels - and the longtime home of fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen.
2️⃣ Marmorkirken (Frederik's Church)
Its huge green copper dome is one of the most recognizable shapes on the Copenhagen skyline.
3️⃣ Copenhagen's canals
The canals are a vital part of the city's identity, shaping how the whole landscape of Copenhagen is laid out. Originally dug for trade and defence, they now serve as lively cultural spaces for recreation, kayaking, and harbor baths right in the heart of the city.
4️⃣ Christiansborg (Danish Parliament)
Denmark's parliament is in the center of the city, topped by a tall tower that stands out from above and the Kings former residency.
5️⃣ Kartoffelrækkerne (the Potato Rows)
Neat rows of small, colorful houses built in the 1880s, named after the way they line up like potatoes in a field. Hidden from street level, but easy to spot from the air. Used to be affordable housing for working-class families in late 1800, today some of the most expensive and highly sought after homes.
6️⃣ The Lakes and Nørrebro
The city lakes are a local favorite for walks and runs, and Nørrebro next door is a multicultural hub famous for its creative energy, trendy cafes, and diverse community.
7️⃣ Hundreds of tiny garden plots, each with its own little cabin, laid out in 24 perfect, mesmerizing circles. From above, these famous garden wheels look almost alien like "crop circles" and are one of the most surprising sights around the city.
