Another productive training day at Haavis!
This time, we were joined by our trusted tool partner, Hilti, whose tools we use almost exclusively across our operations.
During the training, we explored the latest innovations, learned about the versatile applications of different tools, and took part in a hands-on demonstration where our team had the opportunity to test the equipment in real working conditions.

Marek Gordejev, Training Center Manager:
"In shipbuilding, we often work under tight schedules and in demanding conditions - there is no room for tools that let you down. We chose Hilti because it delivers three things at once: reliability that keeps our work moving, quality that is reflected in the precision of our craftsmanship, and excellent service that minimizes downtime. For us, it's not just a tool - it's an essential part of how we ensure quality.".

A big thank you to the Hilti team for an insightful training session and valuable practical knowledge. Events like these help us keep our skills up to date and ensure we continue delivering the highest quality to our customers.

At the beginning of this summer, Haavis completed its work on the cruise ship Legend of the Seas. Our team carried out work in several areas of the vessel, including the Promenade ceiling, Boleros Bar, Schooner Bar, and the crew staircases.

The scope of the project and the demanding schedule presented us with a significant challenge, but our team rose to the occasion and delivered successfully.

Completing projects that require such exceptionally high quality standards is exactly what helps us grow as a company and gives us the confidence to take on even greater responsibilities.

A big thank you to our entire team for your dedication and outstanding contribution. Onward and upward!

Another successful training completed!
At Haavis, we believe that every successful project starts with a well-prepared team.
This time, we organized an internal training session for our Meyer Turku shipyard projects, combining theory with extensive hands-on practice to ensure our team is ready for the challenges ahead.
Our experts shared their knowledge on key topics:
Tarmo Müürsoo – Haavis OÜ, our values, and ways of working
Magnus Laas – Meyer Turku shipyard and project-specific requirements
Heddi Pedassaar – personnel, accommodation, and project documentation
The practical training focused on the everyday processes involved in shipbuilding. Under the guidance of our welding specialist, Andre Aavik, every participant received individual coaching and learned to perform spot welding independently, while the more experienced team members further developed their skills.
To put their knowledge into practice, participants built a metal coat rack and a workbench by following technical drawings—and the results were outstanding!
The training concluded with a theoretical assessment, which was successfully completed by all participants. The feedback was unanimous: this type of training provides valuable preparation and should be part of every new project.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and to our trainers for sharing their expertise. Together, we're building stronger teams and delivering quality on every project.

Midsummer Day is behind us, and summer is in full swing!
Haavis held its traditional summer gathering, where there was also time to talk business. We shared updates on the company's activities and development, introduced our new online work environment, and discussed the training centre's current projects and future plans.

Our team member Alexis, together with Andrei, prepared a whole lamb over an open fire. As a Greek, Alexis brought a taste of Greek barbecue to the Estonian Midsummer celebration - and it was absolutely delicious!

This time, we're talking with our Technical Manager, Magnus Laas.
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁?
I entered the shipbuilding industry thanks to a good friend who invited me to join a project as a Project Manager for ballast water treatment system installations on ships. Since I also had experience with interior construction projects on land, it did not take long before I started managing interior outfitting projects on vessels as well.
I had no prior exposure to shipbuilding through university or my earlier career, but when something genuinely interests you, new knowledge comes naturally. Before entering the shipbuilding industry, I worked for five years as a Production Manager in two different companies. That experience provided me with a strong foundation in resource management, a solid understanding of LEAN methodology, and practical experience in implementing it.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱?
What fascinates me most about my current work is the variety that the shipbuilding and ship repair sector offers. You never know which country the next project will take you to or what challenges it will bring. Every project is an opportunity to learn something new.
Continuous learning and self-development are very important to me. I probably could not dedicate my entire career to one narrow field of expertise. I enjoy environments that challenge me and allow me to keep growing professionally.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝘄. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀?
I have always had a great working relationship with our CEO. We had successfully completed several projects together before, and I really appreciated the Haavis way of thinking: “Delivering Excellence by Shipbuilding Professionals.”
Another important factor was that Haavis is a growing and evolving company. It provides an environment where I can apply both my previous work experience and my educational background while contributing to the company’s development.

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁?
I believe the most important qualities are proactivity and the ability to perform under pressure. Even in highly emotional situations, it is essential to remain calm and make sound decisions.
I often say that laziness can be a driving force for improvement—you should always look for ways to achieve objectives with the least unnecessary effort. For repetitive tasks, it is important to develop tools and processes that make work more efficient and reduce manual effort.
In an international environment, my experience has shown that people value directness, technical clarity, and clear communication. I can think of many examples where long, polished emails from sales teams achieved very little, while concise and technically precise communication led to quick and effective results.

𝗜𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁?
If it were possible, I would spend all of my free time fishing. Fortunately, I also have a family and a home to which I can devote my care and attention.
During the summer, I enjoy fishing with my family, taking boat trips, and organizing small picnics on Estonia’s islands. Spending time in nature is extremely important to me. That is also why I’m member of Volunteer Fish Protection Organization, helping to protect fish stocks and make Estonia’s waters richer in fish.
I would also like to spend more time on my other hobby—cycling—which I have not been able to enjoy as much lately as I would like.

The training at Haavis Training Center has been successfully completed. Our certified specialists are now even better trained and ready to start working on project sites.

Alexis Petsis, Trainer, Insulation Project Manager in Haavis: „I’m proud to share that I recently had the opportunity to work as a trainer at our company’s training center, delivering professional insulation training to our team.
The training was a great success and included 50 intensive hours of both theoretical and practical work. During the program, we focused on proper insulation methods, safety awareness, quality standards, correct installation procedures, and professional working habits.
All participants showed strong motivation, discipline, and a real willingness to learn. I was very pleased to see their progress throughout the training. Everyone participated actively, asked good questions, followed instructions carefully, and improved their understanding step by step.
At the end of the training, all participants successfully completed the program and received their insulation training certificates.
I would also like to give special recognition to all participants for their excellent attitude, strong focus, respect, and willingness to learn throughout the training.
This kind of training is very important for improving safety, quality, and efficiency on future projects. A well-trained insulation team is not only faster and more reliable, but also helps the company deliver better results for our clients.
Overall, I am very happy with the result of the training and proud of the team’s effort and achievement.“.

Vasileios Pelekanos, Training participant, worker: „I’m proud to share that I successfully completed professional insulation training at our company’s training center. This training was a valuable experience for me - It helped me improve my knowledge, understand the importance of quality and safety, and gain more confidence in insulation work. The practical part was especially useful because it gave us the opportunity to apply what we learned and better understand the correct way of working on site.
I would like to thank our trainer and the company for organizing this training and giving us the opportunity to develop our skills. The training was clear, professional, and very useful for our future work.
I look forward to using this knowledge in future projects and continuing to develop as a professional in the insulation field.

We would also like to thank Marek Gordejev, our training center manager, for providing everything we needed and making sure the training was well organized and successful.

This week, a training session focused on insulation installation is taking place at the Haavis Training Center. The training includes both theoretical and practical components. For the practical part, skills are shared by Haavis’ highly experienced Insulation Project Manager, Alexis Petsis.
In shipbuilding, knowledge is important, but practical experience is what shapes true professionals.
Working on vessel interiors requires accuracy, discipline, and the ability to apply technical knowledge in real working conditions. This is why practical training plays such an important role in preparing people for the industry.
At Haavis Training Center, participants develop their skills through both theoretical learning and hands-on practice in an environment that reflects real ship interior work.
Strong results begin with strong preparation.
