The company is owned and managed by Loly Gamal, a Bedouin born and raised in the Oasis, his family’s homeland for generations. Loly has been in the production of dates for fifteen years. Dates have been prized by Egyptians for over five thousand years for

their health and nutritional benefits and for being an important source of energy and fiber. A handful of dates is packed with more cell-protecting antioxidants than most other fruits and vegetables. Desert Oasis Dates are prized for their rich flavor, soft smooth texture, and nutritional value. The date palm is a natural resource that thrives in the fertile Bahariya Oasis basin that is fed by crystal clear springs. Cultivation and sale of the Oasis dates is a community effort and provides much needed revenue for all. Family and friends participate in all phases of date production including: harvesting each September, sun-drying the fruit naturally under the clear, warm desert sky, and then carefully sorting and packaging the plump dried dates for market.
