THE CAVE OF BONES BENEATH SAUDI ARABIA

Deep inside Umm Jirsan Cave in northwestern Saudi Arabia, researchers discovered tens of thousands of animal bones, along with fragments of human skulls believed to have been carried there by striped hyenas.

Even more unsettling, explorers reported hearing growling sounds coming from deep within the cave. Could striped hyenas still be using it as a den today?
