Exporting Charcoal
Introduction: The journey was fraught with numerous challenges, from stringent shipping line requirements to ensuring the safety and quality of the product. This is the story of how our dedicated team overcame these obstacles to successfully deliver the shipment to its destination.
Facing the Challenges: The shipping line had a comprehensive list of requirements that needed to be met before the shipment could proceed. These included:
1. Inspection Arrangements: This step was crucial to ensure that all parties were on the same page and that the inspection process would go smoothly.
2. Material Marking: The charcoal had to be clearly marked with a sticker containing detailed information, This information needed to match the details in our weathering report, adding another layer of precision to our operations.
3. Container Labeling: Each container had to be labeled on all four sides with the required hazardous cargo labels, This ensured that the cargo was met international shipping standards.
4. Offload container at port :- Due to the instructions from Port Authority, containers must not be offloaded at any internal yards This process is highly sensitive as all customs clearance procedures must be completed before the vessel's arrival. We must be ready when the shipping line's port office requests our container
5. General Guidelines for Material Inspection: Meeting the general guidelines for material inspection was another significant challenge. These included:
· Ensuring the production date was at least 14 days before the packing date.
· Maintaining a material temperature .
· Ensuring a minimum headspace in the container.
· Securing the cargo to prevent movement during transport.
· Adhering to CTU Code Standards for packing and securing cargo.
· Ensuring packaging was intact and in good condition.
· Ensuring the container's interior was clean and free of rust, damage, fumes, or smoke.
· Providing a valid weathering report, including the production and packing dates, packaging type, and the average material temperature at the time of packing.
Overcoming Obstacles: Despite the stringent requirements, EI Galala For Logistics Services - GLS team worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was meticulously handled. We coordinated with inspection teams, ensured accurate and clear labeling, and maintained strict adherence to temperature and packaging standards. Our diligence paid off as we successfully navigated the complexities of the shipping process.
