Did you know there are three varieties on the manatee theme? There’s the Amazonian from South America, the West Indian species and the African manatee. The African manatee lives in warm salt and fresh waters along the coast, which brings us to the Red Sea.

Where the Romans And Bedouins Lived Wadi El Gemal is a protected area with a very rich biological diversity, located some 45 km south of Marsa Alam City. The Diving Beauty of Marsa Alam. Feel The Temperatures
During the Marsa Alam summers the water temperature averages nearly 30 ℃. It has been suggested as ‘appropriate’ 3mm wetsuits are suitable for the May-September period. 5mm wetsuit would be more fitting during the relatively colder months.
It’s good to know that during the winter months, high winds can play with the sea. Having aid, that, Marsa Alam can be windy anytime of the year but is seldomly leads to limited diving.

The Diving Beauty of Marsa Alam. Elphinstone Reef
Manta rays are likely to pass by between May and August. Pelagics, such as tuna, barracuda and trevallies, are fairly common at the Elphinstone Reef. One visitor to the reef described the spot as ‘teeming with myriads of fishes all around Elphinstone’.

Marsa Alam. Snorkeling At Sharm El Luli
The white sands and fifty shades of blue of the waters of Ras Hankorab. This pristine spot is locally known as Sharm El Luli. This is where you put on your mask and fins and just walk into the water right from the stonefree beach. The beach has a very gradient so you can wade in effortlessly.
