I’m back from an incredible two weeks exploring Northern Pakistan!

I’m playing a little catch-up after being away, so thank you to everyone for your patience as I work my way through emails and messages! 💛

I’m back in Cairo and focusing on work for the next two weeks before heading off on a short trip to South Africa for a travel advisor research safari trip! Make sure to follow along if you want to see what it’s like to go on a safari in South Africa. 🦁

I experienced so much kindness and incredible hospitality during my time in Northern Pakistan, and this is just one of the many examples. 💛🇵🇰

Growing up in Canada, I feel like we were often taught to fear places like Pakistan and other countries in the region, rather than encouraged to understand them.

I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to visit, experience the culture, meet the people, and form my own opinions.

This trip was such a beautiful reminder of why I love travelling. There is so much more to a country than what we see or hear in the media.

Pakistan, you exceeded every expectation. I will definitely be back!

Pakistan Day 10 🇵🇰

Our last day of hiking, and it was short and sweet one!

We started the day hiking up the Baskochi Trail, where we were rewarded with incredible views overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters of Attabad Lake. What a way to finish our hiking adventures in Pakistan!

After our hike, we stopped at Yak Grill for a delicious yak burger! Honestly, if I didn’t know it was yak, I probably would have thought it was beef. Very similar in taste, and this place clearly knows what they’re doing because it was SO good.

Next, we stopped to admire the famous Passu Cones, those incredible pointed mountain peaks that make this part of Pakistan so recognizable. We finished our sightseeing with a stop at the suspension bridge before enjoying some chai beside a nearby lake.

Back at our homestay, we enjoyed another delicious home-cooked meal, and I even managed to sneak in some cat snuggles.

Can you tell I’m starting to miss my pup Molly? 😂❤️

Another amazing day in northern Pakistan, and while our hiking adventures have officially come to an end, I’m so grateful for everything we’ve experienced along the way.

I will definitely be back to experience more of this beautiful country. 🇵🇰

Pakistan Day 8 & 9 🇵🇰

We started our hike up to the Rakaposhi base camp. We hiked in part of the way and slept in cosy tents for the night. Of course as soon as we arrived the chai was served and the views were stunning! I couldn’t get over how bright the stars were at night.

The next morning we got an early start up to the viewpoint and got a close look at the beautiful Rakaposhi glacier. It was a rainy and windy hike but as always, worth it for the views.

After we hiked down, we headed to our home stay for the next two nights in nearby Ghulkin. The family that runs it is so sweet and took such good care of us!
