Egypt Visa on Arrival 2026: New QR Code System at Cairo Airport

Egypt has introduced a new digital Visa on Arrival process at Cairo International Airport.
Eligible travelers can now obtain a QR code digitally and present it with their passport at immigration. The QR code is valid for 7 days from issuance.

A new way to experience the Pyramids of Giza is on the horizon.

A new tethered balloon experience near the Giza Plateau is expected to rise up to around 150 metres, offering panoramic views of the pyramids, desert landscape and the edge of Cairo.

Unlike a traditional hot-air balloon, it remains secured to the ground, rising vertically before returning to the same point after a short viewing experience.

It could be the perfect addition to a full Giza day: explore the pyramids, visit the main viewpoints, then see the plateau from a completely different perspective.

Before planning around it, travellers should confirm the official opening status, booking process and weather conditions.
