Today we abandoned our planned long yomp due to the unpredictable rainy weather.🌧️ Instead we packed up the moho and drove most of the way to Bamburgh and walked a shorter distance to the castle 🏰 and village. Beautiful setting but at nearly £20 each we gave up the idea of seeing the inside and admired it from afar! Being back up north my arms got shorter and pockets longer!!!!

After our soaking yesterday we set off today, between the showers, 🌧️ for Seahouses. Almost managed to get back before the rain came again. Not as heavy as yesterday but we just got back in time to avoid another soaking. Forecast looking better tomorrow when we're thinking of yomping to Bamburgh Castle.🤔

Took a short walk from our pitch into Beadnell Harbour via a coffee ☕ and cake 🍰 stop, of course.
Factoid - Beadnell Harbour is the only harbour on the East Coast of Britain, which faces west.
Got caught in heavy rain🌧️ as we were furthest from the pitch, of course! The coastline looked bleak with atmospheric dark clouds. ☁️ Think we're van bound for the day as we dry off.

Today we took the train at the end of our campsite to Haltwhistle and went back 2,000 years. (Corbridge rail station has an Indian restaurant on the platform! There's also a boozer 50m away. Perfect!🍲🍺) From Haltwhistle we walked to Hadrian's Wall and walked a small section. A blustery, showery day more typical of an English summer. 🌦️🌬️ Wouldn't have fancied being a Roman soldier exposed to the elements of Northumberland.

Yesterday the remaining family camping division Louise Howard Nigel Howard took a trip to Robin Hood's Bay after firstly purchasing a new battery for Nige & Lou's caravan in Scarbados. An excuse for a drive along Scarborough's front. Many memories as a kid. We then took a walk round Robin Hood's Bay down to the front and back up. Fish 🐠 and chips 🍟 was a must before heading back to the campsite. Bodgit & Run then successfully installed the new battery! A pleasant and successful day and a fab weekend with some of the fam. 😁

A weekend away with some of the fam (camping division) near Whitby. Martin Hodgson Kerry Hodgson Nigel Howard Louise Howard A pleasant walk from the pitch in Ruswarp to Whitby along the railway line and river. Evening BBQ (gas not coal!!) last night and today we wake up to summer rain. Getting the full UK summer experience! And it's chilly. Ironic that the rain starts just after the national warning about fires received on mobile phones. Might be a pub day if it doesn't clear up. Tomorrow we move to Corbridge in Northumberland.

Another couple of days walking and exploring more of the Lake District with visits to Keswick, Derwent Water (2 hour bus ride each way 😧) and Coniston. Weather behaved itself 🌤️ and the step count increased. Tomorrow the forecast is for 30°C temperatures 🥵 so a relative rest day beckons! Friday we head for Whitby for a family camping meet up. Howard gypsies on tour!!!!🚐🧔🏻🧔🏼‍♂️
