New project underway. ⚙️ We’re working beneath a very special vessel, where we’ll be carrying out in-situ machining using our portable lathe.

But before getting started, we carried out a thorough inspection of the alignment of both struts in relation to the stern tube line. During the measurements, we detected excessive misalignment on the port side, so we first carried out a structural correction, repositioning the strut and taking all the alignment references again.

This is just the first step in a long and meticulous job, requiring several stages and multiple days of work. Over the coming weeks you’ll be able to follow the entire process on our social media channels. 👀

Today we’ve prepared a very special order. And this time it’s not for a customer. 😉
It’s for Sicnova, one of those suppliers who help us keep our work moving forward every day, and with whom we share countless hours of technology, solutions and collaboration.

At Metalnox, we have no secrets: we work with Sicnova’s technology and products, and we’re more than happy to say so. Because having the best tools is important, but knowing how to use them and get the most out of them is where know-how comes in.

When the dimensions, weight or characteristics of a machine make it impractical to dismantle and transport certain components, machining has to be carried out on site.

In this case, our portable lathe allows us to work directly on the excavator. Fewer dismantling operations, less transportation, and a solution delivered exactly where it is needed.

If the piece can’t come to Metalnox, Metalnox goes to the piece. ⚙️

Before touching a single component, you need to understand the entire system as a whole. ⚙️📐 In this image we’re working on the general arrangement drawing of a propulsion line, studying how the shaft, its supports and couplings integrate with the transmission and engine.

Why is it so important? Because the position and relationship between all these elements determine the proper operation of the entire system.

At Metalnox we don’t just look at a propeller or a shaft. We analyse the complete power transmission path, from the engine all the way to the water.

Why is a propeller welded? 🔥⚙️

When a propeller has suffered material loss due to damage, wear or cavitation, simply restoring its shape may not be enough. In certain cases material must be rebuilt by welding before continuing with the repair process.

And not just any welding will do. The propeller’s alloy determines the filler material, welding procedure, and thermal control required during the repair to achieve a proper bond and prevent introducing new defects. Welding is just one part of the process. Knowing how, where, and how much to weld is what really matters... and at Metalnox, we have the experience to get it right.
