1. Airport currency exchange - worst rates in the city, use ATM or card instead
2. Checking a bag last minute - gate fees can be 3x the online price
3. Buying water before security - you have to toss it, buy after
4. Skipping travel insurance - one missed flight costs more than policy
5. Not checking baggage rules - surprise fees at gate add up fast

WHAT'S IN MY CARRY-ON - 5 things I never fly without

Carry on pack with me for my next flight from Vienna:

1. Compression cubes - fit more in less space and keeps everything organized
2. Empty water bottle - fill after security, skip 5 euro bottle
3. Portable charger - dead phone at layover is never fun
4. Travel pillow - fold flat kind, not bulky kind
5. Snacks from home - airport food is 3x price

Top tips for a comfortable flight - save this before your next trip

Long flight from Europe? This is what I do for 8+ hour flights from Vienna:

Window for sleep, aisle for legs - I pick window 2 rows behind exit row for max recline
Compression socks + get up every 2 hours
Neck pillow that holds your chin, not the floppy U ones
Noise cancelling, eye mask, hoodie up = instant business class dark mode
Water + electrolytes, skip alcohol at 35k ft
Pack a small seat kit: blanket, lip balm, moisturizer, ear plugs in one cube

Sunrise this morning in Vienna - no filter

If you're planning Bavaria in fall, don't zigzag. This is the loop that works from Munich:

Day 1: Munich - Oktoberfest tents and city center
Day 2: Munich continued - b**r halls and autumn parks
Day 3: Neuschwanstein Castle - castle tour and scenic fall drive, best fall colors of the trip
Day 4: Berchtesgaden - lake cruise and mountain views
Day 5: Rothenburg ob der Tauber - historic old town and fall foliage walk

I did this from Innsbruck and it is super easy to combine with an Austria trip.
