One WhatsApp can contain a whole afternoon.

“Can we arrange a wellness session for tomorrow morning? We have guests coming.”

The message takes ten seconds.

What follows may involve finding the right therapist, checking availability, matching the timing with the yacht’s schedule, coordinating access on board and making sure everything is ready before the first guest arrives.

None of that should be visible in the final experience.

The message was short. The coordination behind it wasn’t.
That is the difference between forwarding a request and taking care of it.

Anyone who has worked around yachts knows how that sentence usually ends.

Fifteen minutes becomes forty-five.Forty-five becomes waiting for a part. And suddenly, a small job has moved three other things in the schedule.

The repair itself is rarely the whole job.

There is the technician to coordinate, the part to source, the access to arrange, the timing to fit around the vessel and everything else happening on board that day.

In Ibiza, yacht services are often about making sure a 15-minute job stays as close to 15 minutes as possible.

A young captain once asked a question that would have sounded strange 30 years ago: How did you arrange yacht services in Ibiza before WhatsApp?

The answer was simple. You picked up the phone. You knew who to call. And if you didn’t, you knew who to ask.

You come back to the same port year after year, the vessels change, the crews change. Some faces don’t.

Berths, transport, provisions, suppliers, repairs, local contacts. There was no group chat to keep everyone connected. You had to know the island, the port and the people who made things happen.

Technology has changed the way the industry communicates. It hasn’t changed the value of knowing Ibiza from the inside.

That kind of knowledge is built season after season.

I’ve seen the busiest days on the quay look surprisingly quiet from the bridge.

Every charter has a rhythm. Most of the work doesn't happen when the radio crackles with an urgent request; it happens hours, or even days, before.

It’s the berth that’s secured before the wind shifts.
The clearance that’s lodged before the authorities arrive.
The technician who is already standing on the dock because they knew the engine would skip a beat.

Experience isn’t about being the fastest to answer it’s about making sure that by the time you realize you need something, the solution is already there.

Every now and then, you find the partner. That relationship isn't built during one busy week. It builds, season after season, until it becomes part of the way you work.
