The Guardian of the Road: Malla's Red Cross Post 🚑🚨

Located right by the historic N-152 (now C-17) in Malla, Osona, this Red Cross first aid post has been a crucial safety landmark since its creation in the mid-20th century during a time when traffic accidents on this busy mountain route surged.

Historically built to provide immediate emergency response and reduce response times for stranded or injured motorists traveling between Barcelona and Puigcerdà, it saved countless lives. Today, while highway infrastructure has evolved, the facility remains an active logistics and training hub for Creu Roja Osona, occasionally supporting local emergency exercises, community safety workshops, and civil protection initiatives.

Every road has a story. 🛣️
Today, 11 October, is World Road Day, a date that nods to the first World Road Congress, held in Paris in 1908.
Here, the old N-152 hugs the Freser river near Ribas (today Ribes de Freser), right past the Balneario Montagut. Gravel underfoot, rock above, water below. Long before bypasses and tunnels, this was the way up into the Pyrenees.
A vintage postcard, colourised. Because roads don't just connect places: they keep the memories of everyone who built them and travelled them.

Stepping back in time to witness the massive transformation of our roads! 🛣️ This fascinating historical photo captures the construction of the A-17 (currently C-33) viaduct in Montcada i Reixac back in the late 1960s, just before its grand opening in November 1969. Right below, you can see the historic N-152 road, which served as a vital connection for travelers long before modern highways reshaped the landscape. ​There are moments that give you goosebumps, and today was absolutely one of them. Watching the Tour de France peloton fly right past our gates here in Ribes de Freser during Stage 3 (Granollers - Les Angles) was pure magic! 💥💨

​But today’s stage wasn’t just about the speed—it was about legacy. The Tour has officially returned to the iconic N-152 road, tracing the exact asphalt where cycling legends rode nearly 60 years ago.

​From the peaceful, historic gardens of our Balneari to the roaring energy of the world’s greatest cycling race... what an unforgettable contrast. 🏔️🏨

Big changes are happening on the tracks! 🚄✨

​For the past few months, major upgrade works have been underway on the R3 line of Rodalies de Catalunya. The big goal? Duplicating the track between La Garriga and Parets del Vallès to make our daily commutes smoother and more reliable. 🛠️🌾

​One of the most impressive milestones of this project is taking shape right in Les Franqueses del Vallès. If you've passed by the Els Gorgs area recently, you’ve probably noticed the massive new viaduct built right over the old N-152 road! 🌉👷‍♂️

​It’s a massive engineering effort, and while construction always requires a bit of patience, it’s a huge step forward for better, faster, and more sustainable public transport in the region. 🌍💪
