Some climbs become popular. Others simply become part of local cycling.

Puerto de León is the climb almost every rider in Málaga knows. The road starts just outside the city and climbs steadily through the Montes de Málaga before reaching 900 metres above sea level.

There are no brutal ramps. Just a rhythm that rewards patience. And, of course, the obligatory stop at Fuente de la Reina before the final kilometres.

If you reach the top, you've earned your place in the Puerto de León Club.

One of the quieter climbs in the Axarquía.

The route follows the coast all the way to Torrox before turning inland. Nearly 44 kilometres of flat roads, then a steady 16-kilometre climb toward Cómpeta.

No brutal gradients. No traffic stress. Just a consistent rhythm, sea views through the curves and La Maroma on the horizon.

Fill your bottles in Torrox before heading up. Once in Cómpeta, a café stop and a long descent back toward the Mediterranean are waiting.

One of the most useful training routes around Málaga for triathletes.

The Ironman 70.3 bike course follows the coastline east of the city and keeps climbing to a minimum. On paper it looks straightforward. On the road it becomes a different challenge.

Long exposed sections. Constant pacing. No major climbs to break the rhythm.
What usually decides the day is not elevation. It's the coastal wind.

A solid option for Ironman preparation, aero-position training and sustained race effort without race-day traffic.

One of the rides Málaga locals keep coming back to.

Ruta del Bacalao starts along the coast before turning inland into the rolling roads of the Axarquía. No major climbs. No famous passes. Just the kind of route that keeps the pedals turning.

The terrain changes constantly. Short rises. Fast sections. Quiet roads. A rhythm that suits both groups and solo riders.

Don't underestimate the final kilometres. When the Poniente wind arrives from the west, even the flat coast road can feel surprisingly long.
