September 2026 with ProPaws! 🐾🚐🇪🇸🇫🇷🇬🇧
What an amazing journey! 35 dogs and cats travelling between Spain and the UK — and back again — with quite a few miles, plenty of dog walks and the occasional strong coffee thrown in for good measure!
First up was beautiful Valentina, delivered to her brand-new family in Barcelona, ready for the next stage of her adventure to her forever home in Menorca. ❤️
With Valentina safely delivered, we headed north into France for our first overnight break — because unlike Geoff and Collin, the tachograph doesn't respond particularly well to “we're nearly there!” 😀
Morning came and it was back on the road, heading through France to Calais and across the Channel to the UK.
Once on British soil, we headed to the South Coast before making our way around to East Essex, through Cambridge, up into North Yorkshire and across to Lancashire.
Then came overnight stop number two — dog walks, welfare checks and, of course, the obligatory ProPaws video shoot. The dogs generally look considerably fresher on camera than Geoff and Collin do by this stage! 🐶
Meanwhile, back at ProPaws HQ, Tracey was doing what Tracey does best — keeping everything organised, keeping everyone informed and generally calling the shots from several hundred miles away!
The following morning we began the drive south through Shropshire, then on to Somerset and Cornwall.
By Monday, with some of our return travellers safely on board, the wheels were pointing back towards London and eventually Dover for the journey back into Europe.
And apparently 34 travellers weren't quite enough excitement for one trip! ProPaws even found time to collect a brand-new rescue dog for Sunny Shores Dog Rescue, who is now happily settling into his new environment. ❤️🐶
He officially became traveller number 35 of our September adventure — and what a lovely way to finish the trip!
By Wednesday night, every single pet had been safely delivered. ❤️
And, as always with ProPaws:

🐾 AUGUST 2026 – NOW THAT WAS A TRIP! 🚐🇪🇸🇫🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Our August 2026 trip certainly added a few miles to the ProPaws clock!
Setting off from near Gibraltar, we travelled up through Spain to Alicante, onwards to Madrid and Valladolid, before crossing into France and making our way north to Calais.
This trip involved 27 pets, including nine cats, with a mixture of rescue animals heading to their new families and much-loved private pets making up the full manifest. Quite a travelling family!
Once across the Channel and into England, we headed to Brighton before turning north, tackling London, continuing through Cambridge and the Midlands, and then crossing into Scotland before eventually making our way all the way up to Aberdeenshire.
Gretna Services became a familiar sight on this trip! Our first overnight stop there came on the journey north into Scotland, giving us time to clear the Tacho and get some much-needed rest before continuing. Then, after completing our Scottish deliveries and turning south with our Spain-bound passengers, we found ourselves back at Gretna for a second overnight stop — this time also restocking supplies and tackling the inevitable mountain of pet laundry. Glamorous? Perhaps not. Essential? Absolutely! 😂🐾
Once every one of our Spain-to-UK travellers was safely home, we continued the journey south, collecting the private pets making the journey back to Spain with us.
Four countries, thousands of miles, 28 counties across England and Scotland, two nights at Gretna, plenty of dog walks, a fair amount of coffee and 27 very special travelling companions along the way! ❤️🐾

JULY’S TRIP — 8 CATS, 22 DOGS, 2 TACHO CARDS, THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES, BRIGHTON PRIDE… AND ONE DRIVESHAFT! 🐾🚐
Eventful, challenging and joyful as ever, our July journey certainly gave us a little bit of everything!
The trip proper began on Thursday as we collected the 10 personal pets travelling to the UK. Then, just as we were collecting the rescue dogs and cats, our trusty van apparently decided the trip needed a little more excitement — and the driveshaft gave up on us!
The pets were immediately unloaded and settled safely into a private kennel and cattery while the van was taken to a local mechanic. He worked his magic and, less than 12 hours behind schedule, we were repaired, loaded back up and on the road again.
With every dog and cat safely aboard, the journey north began.
After crossing into the UK, our route took us down to Brighton during Pride weekend, east to Essex, west to Shropshire and eventually all the way north to Scotland — even catching the fireworks as the Commonwealth Games came to a close in Glasgow.
Despite the breakdown, the traffic, the miles and everything else the journey threw at us, every single pet — private and rescue — was delivered safely, directly to their door.
All of this whilst operating under the watchfull and attentive eye of our digital Tacho, no mean feat to keep Big Brother happy!
Then it was time to turn the ProPaws Express around and begin collecting those making the journey back to Spain.
With travellers heading home to Salamanca, Madrid, Alicante, Murcia and the Costa del Sol, the miles continued until finally the last pet was safely home and so were we.
8 cats. 22 dogs. Two Tacho cards. Thousands of miles. One broken driveshaft — and a lot of happy pets and even happier families. ❤️🐾
And that, really, is what ProPaws is all about.
Journeys don't always go exactly to plan. Vehicles can break, traffic can stop and occasionally the whole country seems to organise an event on the exact weekend we're trying to drive through it! What matters is how you deal with it.
For us, the priority will always be the same: the safety and welfare of the animals entrusted to us. Regular comfort breaks, proper rest, constant care and every pet delivered door to door, whether they're a privately owned pet or a rescue heading to their new life.
No shortcuts. No service-station handovers. Just doing everything we can to make a very long journey as safe, comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Back in June, ProPaws received a call asking if we could help transport 16 dogs (or more, if possible) from the North of Spain, after another transport provider suffered a breakdown. Following plenty of planning and a few cups of coffee, we agreed to step in and worked out a realistic schedule.
We set off on Thursday with our shiny new digital tachograph keeping a very close eye on us—our newest and least forgiving travelling companion! Collections took place on Friday morning and, once everyone was safely settled into their comfortable crates, we headed for Calais.
With "Big Brother" watching every mile, we carefully planned our driving hours, comfort breaks and compulsory overnight rest stops, balancing tech legalities with animal welfare. Happy, relaxed pets and legal, well-rested drivers make for the safest journey.
After crossing the Channel on Saturday, we stopped for another comfort break before getting down to what matters most—reuniting these wonderful dogs with their new families. One by one, wagging tails met smiling faces, making every mile worthwhile.
By Sunday, we had just a couple of handovers left before making our way back to Dover. With the van finally empty, we even managed to catch the World Cup Final before settling in for the night. Monday saw us heading back towards Spain, with one final overnight stop before arriving home late on Tuesday.
Our first international journey in the new digital tachograph era was complete. More importantly, it gave us valuable experience, confidence and data that will help us plan future trips even more efficiently.
Below are just a few photos of our four-legged passengers, along with some of the thoughtful gifts and heartfelt thank you cards we received from their delighted new families. Moments like these remind us exactly why we do what we do.

We can also confirm that the non-alcoholic Red Cross care package of emergency snacks unfortunately didn't survive the return journey... they were heroically consumed by the crew somewhere between Dover and Spain in the interests of driver welfare. We can only apologise to the biscuits. 😆🚐🐾
