What does safety look like on a normal workday?

At Neste, safety is a fundamental part of how we operate. It guides decision-making, shapes our processes and is embedded in everyday work across all functions and locations.

Maintaining a safe working environment – both physical and psychosocial – requires consistent focus, clear standards and shared accountability. It’s something that is built over time through actions, behaviours and continuous improvement.

Today, on World day for safety and health at work, organized by the International Labour organization, we recognise the importance of that work and the people behind it.

Did you know that the non-CO2 impact of aviation - such as the formation of persistent contrail-cirrus clouds induced by soot emission- could match the climate impact of CO2 itself?

To reduce the total climate impact of aviation, we need solutions that address the full picture. That is exactly where sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) comes in.

Beyond reducing lifecycle GHG emissions, SAF’s unique chemical composition provides another “win.” Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ contains near-zero aromatic content, which leads to significantly lower soot emissions from combustion. Fewer soot particles means a reduced likelihood of forming the persistent contrails that contribute to global warming.

We sat down with Stephen Arrowsmith and Andreas Busa, experts from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Reetu Sallinen, SAF expert at Neste to discuss:

On Children's Day at Work, we opened our doors to the children and young people close to our employees.

The day was filled with curiosity, fun moments and hands-on activities. Our young creators shared their visions for the vehicle of the future, and crafted beautiful Christmas cards in collaboration with HelsinkiMissio.

They also explored the wonders of chemistry together with Gadolin – the Chemistry Class for children and youth at the University of Helsinki – and discovered what safety means in practice through activities designed by our Safety team.
