Do you actually know how much fuel your boat has? The float sensor in your tank measures height, not volume - and most boat tanks are V-shaped, which means the gauge becomes increasingly unreliable the lower it gets. At 20%, you might actually be close to empty.

Q Display gives you a more reliable alternative. The Remaining fuel widget calculates how much fuel is left based on actual engine consumption since the last fill-up. Set your tank size in settings, reset the widget when you fill up, and you have a calculated figure running alongside the float sensor. The full guide is in the link in bio — including how to set it up, how to track your fuel range on the chart, and what to do if your sensor is reading incorrectly.

Your fuel level follows you wherever you are. The Q App shows your current fuel level remotely - in real time with Q Connected, or from the last time your Q Display was online without it. Either way, if the level drops below 20%, the app shows an alert so you know before the engine does.

The Q App also keeps a full record of your fuel consumption by trip, day, and week. Useful for planning longer routes, tracking costs, or if you rent out your boat, knowing exactly how much fuel was used during a rental without having to ask.

Tips & tricks: All you need to know about battery voltage

With the latest updates, all latest-generation Q Display users can now see battery voltage directly in the Q App. If you haven't checked yet, update your Q Display and open the Q App - it's already there.

Your boat's battery powers everything: Q Display, lighting, the fridge, phone charging, and most importantly, the engine start. In boats, lead-acid batteries are the most common. And unlike the lithium batteries found in phones and everyday electronics, lead-acid batteries give no clear state of charge or visual indication of how much is left. Voltage is the only reliable way to know, and repeatedly dropping below 12.0V can permanently damage your battery. That's why it is both important to understand what the battery voltage is trying to tell you, and to get alerted and act before it's too late.

Tips & tricks: Battery voltage on Q Display

Your Q Display measures battery voltage directly from its power cable. But there's one thing worth knowing: when the display is powered on, it draws a small current through that same cable, which introduces a slight drop in the reading.

The fix is simple. Measure the true battery voltage with a multimeter, compare it with what Q Display shows, and set the difference in Settings → Boat settings → Voltage measurement compensation. The corrected reading applies to both Q Display and the Q App, so the voltage you see in the app is accurate, and you won't get unnecessary alerts triggered by an uncalibrated reading.

Tips & tricks: Battery voltage in the Q App

When you're away from the boat, the Q App is where battery monitoring really earns its place.
A slow voltage decline over several days can mean the battery is aging and no longer holding a charge properly. A sudden drop might mean something has been left on: a fridge, a light, or any other load draining the battery while the boat sits unattended. And if your boat is normally left on shore power, a sudden drop from charging voltage back to battery level is a clear sign that shore power has been cut. Without visibility, you won't know until you get back to the marina, and by then it might already be too late.

With the Q App's battery voltage alert, you get notified if the voltage drops below 12.2V, when you can still do something about it.

Battery voltage is available in the Q App for all Q Display users with the spring 2026 software version and an active Q Connected subscription.

Q Guard is getting two new alerts this spring.

• Battery disconnect alert notifies you if your boat's battery is disconnected, which may indicate an attempt to steal your Q Display or other onboard electronics.

• Impact alert notifies you if a hit or bump is detected on your boat, whether it is hitting the dock or something more serious.

• On top of that, battery voltage data and alerts are now available to all directly from Q without special cabling. Know your battery level before you even get to the boat.
