✨We are happy to share that our MV Jolie is now sailing under the Finnish flag! ✨

Previously, Jolie was registered under the Cyprus flag. Now she is a full member of our Finnish family, just like her sister vessel MV Nathalie and the rest of our fleet.

The change helps us build a shared way of working across all crews, making everyday operations smoother and giving crews more confidence to work independently.

Three cheers for Jolie, and happy sailing under the white and blue of the Finnish flag! 🎉

Today is the International Day for Women in Maritime. The day celebrates women in the industry and aims to promote the recruitment, retention, and long-term employment of women in the maritime sector.

As we celebrate this important day, we would like to introduce Noora Niinimäki, Second Officer on RABN’s mv Aurelie.

Noora, what inspired you to choose a career in the maritime industry?
I chose the maritime industry because there are many seafarers in my family, and the sea has been part of my life since childhood. I’ve lived in the archipelago my whole life and spent a lot of time at sea, so the industry felt like a natural choice for me.

Have you always found your place easily among the crew, or have you had to prove your skills to others?
Most of the time, I’ve found my place in the crew quite quickly. I’ve occasionally had to prove my skills in practice, but through experience, my confidence and professional expertise have grown.

What advice would you give to a young person considering a career at sea?
Challenge yourself and dare to try new things. The maritime industry offers plenty of opportunities to learn and develop your skills in different working environments.

Today is the International Day for Women in Maritime. The day celebrates women in the industry and aims to promote the recruitment, retention, and long-term employment of women in the maritime sector.

As we celebrate this important day, we would like to introduce Ada Laine, Second Officer on RABN’s mv Marilie.

Ada, what inspired you to choose a career in the maritime industry?
I originally ended up working at sea after being inspired by my aunt, who encouraged me to work as a waitress on a cruise ship. Later, I moved to the cabin department and stayed there until a close friend encouraged me to apply to maritime school.

Have you always found your place easily among the crew, or have you had to prove your skills to others?
I feel that I’ve always found my place quite easily. Good colleagues are definitely the most important part of this job. Over the years, I have faced prejudices related to my gender and appearance, but nowadays I know there are no rules about what you should or shouldn’t look like in this industry.

What advice would you give to a young person considering a career at sea?
Believing in yourself takes you a long way. One of the best things about this industry is that learning never stops, not even when you become a captain. You don’t need to know everything immediately, as the most important thing is to try and stay motivated. If you are interested in the sea, ships, and a great working community, then this industry is definitely for everyone, regardless of age or gender.

Orange juice travels thousands of kilometres by sea – and RABN’s unique Marilie handles the final stretch in Europe!
Since 2022, RABN’s MV Marilie has helped JuiSea Shipping transport orange juice from Belgium to the UK by sea instead of road.
Marilie was not originally built for juice transportation, but together with JuiSea Shipping, RABN converted the vessel into Europe’s first coastal juice carrier.
The collaboration has worked smoothly since both companies share the same solution-oriented mindset, or as Eric van der Zalm from JuiSea Shipping puts it:
“With RABN, there was an immediate sense that we could build something together.”
JuiSea Shipping had a clear goal from the beginning: they wanted to create a more sustainable logistics model for transporting orange juice in Europe.
Since the route launched, the project has already significantly lowered CO₂ emissions compared to traditional truck-based logistics.

🏁 Go-Kart Grand Prix Championship, Turku Edition

What a day! RABN’s crew swapped vessels for wheels and hit the track for an action-packed event in Turku.

The fun doesn’t end here, as the evening promises good food in great company, and a well-deserved sauna and pool session to relax after the track.

Officers Day brought together officers from our vessels for a full program of discussions on key maritime matters, covering a wide range of areas related to communication, crew wellbeing, safety, and daily operations.

The program included a variety of guest speakers, presentations, and engaging discussions throughout the day.

It was inspiring to see so many officers from our vessels contributing and exchanging experiences throughout the day.

After a productive agenda, we shifted gears and ended the day in a more relaxed atmosphere with a visit to Kakola Spa, followed by a great dinner at Kakolan Ruusu.

RABN is proud to introduce the newest addition to our fleet: Sub-Baltic Amelie! 🎉
For decades, our fleet has been the pride of the Baltic Sea, but as our operations continue to evolve, we’re now taking the next step below the surface.
Sub-Baltic Amelie is RABN’s first submarine, designed to handle some of the most demanding cargo out there, such as fermented fish products.
The vessel’s newly appointed captain, Daniel Nemo, is already looking forward to the new voyages ahead:
“We’ve always focused on reliable operations at RABN, whether on the surface or a bit further below,” he says.
With Sub-Baltic Amelie ready to leave dry dock, we’re ready to take our operations to new depths!

International Women’s day is perfect change to celebrate women working in the shipping industry, and what better way to do that than give a shoutout to one of our talented crewmembers.

Katri Husu works on board the mv Nathalie, currently sailing in the Baltic Sea. Katri, how would you describe working at RABN?

”The work can occasionally be tough, but my wonderful crewmates help me push through. I’m proud to work for a shipping company that truly cares about it’s employees.”

We’re happy to hear that, Katri, and we hope you’ll remain part of our dedicated crew for many years to come!
