Polar Logistics Group was founded in Helsinki in 2001 when Polar Logistics International Oy acquired the Russian operations of Wilson Logistics – formerly Huolintakeskus Russia. As a result, Polar Logistics International Oy opened offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg, forming the basis of Polar Logistics Group. During the same year, Polar Logistics International Oy became a cargo agent for Aeroflo

t in Finland. A German subsidiary was founded in 2005 and the same year, first accreditation by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) was received. Further, an acquisition of an office and a warehouse facility near Helsinki-Vantaa Airport gave an extra boost to the entire Polar Logistics Group’s development. Our transcontinental network of agents and own offices continues to grow stronger. Recently Polar Logistics Group opened offices for example in Astrakhan, Ekateringburg, and Vostochny, Russia; Almaty, Atiray and Aktau, Kazakhstan. Polar Logistics company joined the 9th WCA conference that was organized in Singapore this year at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The worldwide conference is the most attended event that WCA offers with over 2500 delegates from many different countries.

The WCA conference agenda consisted of a cocktail reception, different plenary sessions and workshops, one-to-one meetings and the Awards Dinner. As Polar Logistics majority shareholding will be transferred to NTG, Group CEO Mr. Mikkel Fruergaard from NTG Global attended the conference together with Sales Manager Ms. Linda Nyberg from Polar Logistics Suomi Oy. They had approximately 25 one-to-one meetings and most of them were successful. This setup enabled them to promote the NTG Group’s wider coverage in Europe and Russia to the other members, which generated interest among many agents.

Polar Logistics has started to offer less than container load (LCL) cargo shipments from China to the Russian Federation. The new railway transport services are complementing the company's actual full container load (FCL) freight providing for import and export shipments.
“We begin offering own LCL solutions for cargo railway transportation from China to Russia according to increasing customers’ demand. Polar’s team usually analyze market activities and investigate how to make worldwide freight transportation affordable and suitable for our clients″, comments Anastasia Kuzmina, Sales Director of Polar Logistics Russia. “By taking our LCL services logistics managers may reduce their transit time up to 30-35 days and get more reliable planning".

On Tuesday, March 28, representatives from Polar Logistics Group took part as one of the main experts at the Customs clearance conference opened by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce (FRCC) in Helsinki. An open business meeting gathered more than 30 attendees from industrial and international transportation spheres.

Two experts from Finland and Russia addressed to the audience their practical knowledge in the process of customs declaration in Finland (delivery, documentation, TIR and others) and customs clearance of goods in Russia after crossing the Finnish border.

Nordic Transport Group has acquired the majority stake of the shares in the full-service logistics provider Polar Logistics International.

NTG is pleased to announce it has entered into an agreement to acquire 53% of the Finnish based freight forwarder Polar Logistics International.

Polar is a full-service freight forwarder with offices in Finland, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Czech, Netherlands and Kazakhstan. Polar has established a solid position in Road, Rail, Air & Sea transportation services through its close client relationships and extensive network of global partners. In 2016 Polar generates an expected revenue of EUR 60 million.
NTG is a global freight forwarder with a strong presence in the Nordics. This merger represents a strategic step in the Group’s ambition to continue its high growth while increasing its presence in the Nordic, European and Eastern markets.

“With this merger, we strengthen our position as one of the leading freight forwarders in the Northern European market. Polar and NTG is a perfect match with their complementary business model and close client relationships. Polar and NTG share the same growth philosophy proven by a constant and controlled growth over the last years. Together we can now offer wider European coverage and a strong foothold to Russian and Eastern markets” says Group CEO’s Mikkel Fruergaard and Jesper E. Petersen from NTG.

“This merger provides a solid opportunity for Polar Logistics customers and employees: First, our customers will get a wider service and coverage offered by the new NTG / Polar Group; second, for our employees this is a fantastic opportunity to expand their expertise and strengthen their contribution to our customers’ success”. “We believe that long relationships, excellent and expanded customer service will take us further” says Chairman Esa Kataisto from Polar Logistics.

The transaction will be effective as from January 2nd 2017 and the expected revenue of the new group exceeds EUR 400 million with an expected EBIT of around EUR 24 million.
Completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval and closing is expected early next year.
