Received a bike rental enquiry today from a group coming out to Luchon this spring. They wanted to know what our favourite ride is in Luchon. There are quite a few! So looked back on some photos from 2021 and one of my favourite rides last summer was on the Superbagneres. Amazing views and a great feeling to reach the top of this mighty climb!

We're really hoping our new shop will be ready for spring. Bike rental enquiries already coming through for this summer!

The count down is on to have our new bike shop renovated and ready to roll for June 1st. Our centre used to be the Luchon chicken and egg shop and we love the old sign that remains on the building...not sure how old it is, but we know the previous shop was a family owned business that was handed down to different family generations. Now we're in the process of brain storming a new name for our first generation shop. So what will our shop include -
Bikes - mountain bike & road bike rental fleet, as well as bikes for sale (brand new & second hand)
Bike Service and Repair workshop - the current workshop will be expanding. Ian is already on call for bike service and repair work.
Yoga & Pilates studio - classes for everyone, plus classes designed especially for those of you who ride a bike!
Holiday Rental Properties - we already manage a variety of accommodation for all budgets, but also manage some super nice properties set up especially for those of you who are coming out to Luchon for a bike holiday.
So now we need to confirm a shop name that incorporates everything our shop will offer...any ideas please share :)

Now the cooler weather has arrived we're starting to organise the bikes for the 2020 season! We have exciting plans to expand the Pyrenees Bike Centre ready for next spring so there will be even more room for bikes! Last week the Pyrenees Bike Hire fleet made their way around every country in the Pyrenees -> France->Spain->Andorra. The bikes were ridden by a group of ex-servicemen and women from 65 Degrees North who were raising money for the Hull Veterans Support Centre and the Royal Marines Charity. The group rode for 586kms and climbed 42,385ft. The bikes were returned in great condition, so all they will need is a clean and service before their winter vacation. The bikes received excellent feedback from the cyclists who enjoyed riding their Williers on some of the most challenging cols here in the Pyrenees. One of our favourite rides so long as you're prepared for a challenge is the Luchon to Artigue route. There's no place to rest! However when you reach the top you are rewarded with stunning views over the Luchon valley.

We are very excited as today the Luchon telecabine has opened for the summer season! The Pyrenees Bike Hire Centre is just around the corner from the telecabine that can take you and your mountain bike to the top of the Superbagneres. From here there are a wide variety of trails for mountain bikers of all levels. We offer a range of mountain bikes in different sizes that are all set up so you can enjoy the riding in this area. If you prefer to ride on road then we can recommend the Superbagneres as one of our favourite road climbs in the Pyrenees. A challenging climb that will test you, but well worth it for the amazing views and ice cream at the top!

A freak storm didn't stop this group from challenging themselves on the Pyrenees cols and heading over to the Col du Tourmalet from Luchon. Our Bike services include van support and mobile mechanic so all the hassle is taken out of your ride and you can just focus on your cycling goals. Wet weather can cause problems for your bikes if not serviced properly, so Ian made sure that after the rain all bikes were ready for their next days ride when the sun came back out to play :)

This week we have supported a group of cyclists who not only hired our bikes, but asked for support along the way. Our mechanic Ian followed the group and was on call if there was any problem en route. Weather was very unpredictable, but the group were determined to reach the top of the Col du Tourmalet and descend into Luz Saint Sauveur where they could then enjoy a well deserved beer and transfer back to their base in Luchon. We offer a variety of supported cycling and mountain bike guided rides in the Pyrenees so all you have to do is pedal and enjoy the views!
