When we plan a day at Château Palmer for our clients, it is impossible to put into words how immersive, and utterly perfect, the experience is. It truly is a day like no other.
Last week, we dragged ourselves away from our desks and revisited Château Palmer ourselves. After donning our pre-prepared and pristine Wellington boots labelled with our names, our wonderful host, Inès, took us down to the charming carrelet on the banks of the Gironde estuary to set the scene. From there we headed into the vines where we met Technical Director, Sabrina Pernet, to discuss viticulture and biodynamics. The conversation then led us to the potager where we met Viviane who is in charge of the vegetable gardens and who had just harvested the asparagus, peas, edible flowers and other fresh produce we would be enjoying with lunch. We then headed into the chais for a tasting where we found General Manager, Thomas Duroux, who has expertly led the estate for over 20 years and whose vision has crafted the Palmer we know today.
Our comprehensive visit of the estate was followed by a magnificent private lunch in the château prepared by Chef Jean-Denis Le Bras, Executive Chef for Pierre Gagnaire for almost 20 years, served of course with the spectacular wines of Château Palmer going back to 2007.
Sincere thanks to Thomas and Inès for inviting us back to Château Palmer for the most wonderful day.
Visiting Château Palmer is as immersive, informative and thoroughly enjoyable as it gets, and every experience for each lucky person who gets to visit the estate is truly unique.
