Authorities in France are warning of heavy traffic this weekend, with Saturday being highlighted as one of the busiest of the year and a 'black day' on the roads.

A combination of travellers returning from July holidays and those leaving for August trips is the cause.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid taking unnecessary journeys on major roads and to avoid motorways during busy daytime hours.

Massive delays at Gatwick this evening. EasyJet to Bordeaux is cancelled - the BA to Bordeaux is around 31/2 hours delayed so far ! Please check flights for tonight and knock on effects tomorrow ! ✈️

This line of people that you can see in the photo is for security at Billi Terminal today !! It’s all along the front of the main terminal and I’ve never seen it so bad. It’s due to the ongoing extension works . Please leave extra time if flying EasyJet from Billi !
