GEODIS helps support the future of renewable energy integration! 📈
Our teams have contributed to the deployment of an innovative energy storage prototype off the coast of Calabria (Italy) for Sizable Energy.

Installed at the Natural Ocean Engineering Laboratory (NOEL), this system stores electricity generated by offshore wind turbines and delivers it back to the grid during peak demand, helping stabilize the power grid and providing an alternative to conventional battery systems.

To make this complex operation a success, our Project Logistics team delivered complete engineering and operational support, through:
➡️ Lifting & launch engineering: calculations, crane positioning, and rigging design for the 50-meter diameter, 11-tonne reservoir.
➡️ Marine operations: towing, mooring procedures, and installation plans.
➡️ Technical supervision: on-site presence to ensure safe ex*****on with a 350-tonne crane.

This project highlights our ability to apply specialized engineering expertise well beyond transportation, turning cutting-edge offshore energy concepts into safe operational realities.

🚢 How do you transport 308,920 kg of oversized energy cargo across hemispheres?

GEODIS teams in Poland and the Netherlands joined forces with Protea to execute a complex project shipment for McDermott. The scope: eight oversized units, including crane components with 50-meter booms transported from Poland to Indonesia — equipment that demands precision at every stage.

Transporting the 50-meter booms presented a particular challenge due to their exceptional length, requiring specialized handling and securing, careful planning, and precise coordination throughout the journey.

Our teams managed the full operation, including:
