Help Cora go to Paris

Help Cora go to Paris I’m Cora McAdams. I’m 11 years old. I started watching hockey when I was 2. I’ve been playing since I was 7. But I need help getting there.

I have a dream of winning a gold medal for the USA in Paris France at the Guy Bey Tournament.

Well we got back in the USA and we all got sick. Life went back to its crazy self so finally here is the start of the photo dump!
Again we are soooooo grateful for everyone’s support and help getting Cora to the Guy Bey Paris France Ice Hockey tournament! It was such an amazing experience!

The teams were:
•USA~ BearCat Elite hockey
•The local French team ~the Meudon Comets
•French national team~ Ligue lle-de-France
•Netherlands~ Dutch flyers
•Slovakian all boys~ HK Brezno
•Slovakian all girls ~ Slovakia Girls Power
•England team~ Chelmsford Hockey
•Ukrainian Team ~ E&P Hockey Academy …..who is actually temporarily living and playing out of Erie PA!!

When she got the invite to join the National USA BearCat team we did not realize it was going to be a 14u tournament (meaning players are 12-14 years old. She is 11 and first year 12u which is 10-12year olds) And in European countries girls play down! So not only was Cora THE youngest player in the whole tournament but all the other girls were 14-16 years old! The USA team had 3 goalies and they rotated evenly between periods and they each got a full game. But the game Cora got as her full game was against… the undefeated French national team. The games were two 15 min periods. The first half she only let in two goals with about 20 shots on goal!! She did sooo good. 2nd period she and the USA team got tired and I think she let in about 7 with 30+ SOG but still she played amazing!!!!

Poor Cora though they did a goalie challenge and ummm forgot her!!!!! But everyone made them put the course back together again and let her do the challenge! She was BEYOND nervous and soo scared but everyone quickly learned her name and it was awesome to hear her name being chanted throughout the rink!! Unfortunately one of the boys from the England team thought it was funny to flaunted his Michigan skills on her while she was still in the midst of being nervous and not really ready for the next goalie challenge!!! Let’s just say EVERYONE was furious! Other parents and even coaches approached her and us about how that is not tolerated! It was so bad that the English team didn’t even stay for closing ceremonies!

She and her other USA girl teammates became friends with the all girls Slovakian team. They had 4 games a day so all the kids were at the rink all day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday so even though there was a lot of animosity on the ice it was neat to watch them all play outside together. Even with the language barrier they all still had a blast!
At closing ceremony Cora was going to swap jerseys with one of the Slovakian girl goalies but the girls had other tournaments so they couldn’t trade but Cora was able to swap with one of the Slovakian boy goalies.

It was such an amazing experience for not only Cora but for Woody and I, and even my parents making friends with families from the other teams breaking through the tough language barrier! Tommy even spent his time outside playing with kids who did not speak any English! He said tag is tag and catch is catch!
Our AirB&B was fantastic! About 3 blocks from the rink and oddly it did not get dark until 11:00pm!!! So the walk home at 9pm was fine!
We were so grateful the flight was non stop and very cheap but man flying with hockey equipment… holy crap did that suck!

Photo Dump and videos to follow. We have had some very very busy days!!! She and the USA team just had game 6. One more tonight and two tomorrow! The USA team is doing great and having a blast!! The goalies are rotating and this last game Cora played the entire game. 🥹It was very Dusty 🥺 in the rink for that game😭 We couldn’t be prouder! She went against one of the teams from France which is THE Best team of the tournament. We didn’t win but she was smiling THE whole time and never once gave up! We found out yesterday that Cora being 11 years old is the youngest to play in this tournament and infact for her as a girl…. She is actually playing up. All the other girls here are 15-16 years old! There are 3 girls on the USA BearCat team and there’s a Slovakian all girls team here that has been hanging out and chatting with our girls. It’s so awesome that these kids are becoming friends with kids from all the different countries! And to think they are playing against the BEST OF THE BEST! We just could not be prouder! USA USA
