Ten years ago, I came to Portugal for the first time to celebrate my 40th birthday. I never imagined that one trip would change the course of my life.

Portugal became so much more than a destination. It became a place of healing, new beginnings, lifelong friendships, and eventually, our second home.

This weekend, I celebrated my 50th surrounded by my family including Cookie. 🐶 They completely surprised me and spoiled me in ways I’ll never forget.

Looking back I can’t help but think about how much can change in ten years.

Life hasn’t always unfolded the way I expected, but in so many ways, it has been richer than I could have ever imagined.

I’m deeply grateful for this beautiful country, for the friendships it has brought into my life, for the adventures we’ve shared as a family, and for the friends & family who made this birthday season so incredibly special.

Here’s to Chapter 50, with a full heart of gratitude. 🇵🇹❤️

Before turning 50, my childhood best friend of 40 years gave me one of the greatest gifts… a weekend together in Bordeaux. ❤️

We’ve been friends since 5th grade, and although we’ve never lived in the same city, she spent every summer at our house growing up.

Somehow, through every season of life, our friendship has only grown stronger.

Bordeaux was beautiful, but it was never really about the destination, the wine or the charming streets.

It was about having 72 hours together.

Talking nonstop & catching up on life.

Life gets busy and miles can separate us. But this weekend was a beautiful reminder that some friendships only become more meaningful with time.

Thank you Katy Moran-Huang for such a thoughtful and unforgettable gift. ♥️

And thank you to our husbands for encouraging us to take this trip together.

Here’s to lifelong friendships, laughing past midnight and never running out of things to talk about! 🥂🥂

Ten years ago, we boarded a plane to Portugal to celebrate our 40th birthdays.

We had no idea that one trip would become such a meaningful part of our story.

It was where I first fell in love with Portugal, I discovered cork, never imagining it would eventually inspire and bring us back here to build lifelong friendships, find a second home, and create a life we never could have imagined.

Looking back, I’m reminded that some of life’s greatest blessings begin with one simple “yes.”

To a trip we almost didn’t take.

To a country that became part of our story.

And to 24 years of building a life together.

Happy Anniversary, Sol. ❤️

Some places become part of your family’s story.

The Açores had been on my dad’s bucket list, and we only planned this trip two months ago after he asked if we could go together.

I knew São Miguel would be beautiful, but I didn’t expect how meaningful it would feel to experience it as a family.

Watching my parents take it all in, seeing our boys build friendships along the way, and simply being together reminded me why I love to travel.

The landscapes were breathtaking & unforgettable. This place will always stay with us.
I’m grateful we said yes. 🤍

I searched your name in my phone looking for photos that captured the last 18 years of your life. 18,500 photos later, I realized you’ve lived a very full life.

It has been one of the greatest joys and honors of my life to be your mom. We named you Isaac for a reason.

Thank you for all the laughs, for always being willing to help with work, for encouraging me when I needed it most, and for saying yes to all my crazy travel plans. 80+ cities and 45+ countries later, you still want to travel with me. 😅

Your kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others are gifts that make everyone around you better.

A couple days late for Mother’s Day, but this felt worth sharing.

I didn’t realize how much I would miss the little years until my boys started becoming young men.

Motherhood looks different now, but somehow it feels even more meaningful.

More shared experiences, deeper conversations, and moments I know I’ll always hold onto.

And all the more grateful my boys still want to travel the world with me.☺️

This trip wasn’t quiet… it was full in all the right ways.

Back to back days, moving between work, conversations, and time with people who made sure I was never alone.

I came to Portugal to invest in my work, Corc Yoga, Mogz Travels, but what stayed with me most were the relationships.

Friends who opened their homes, shared meals, made introductions, and took care of me in ways I didn’t expect.

There’s something about being here that feels grounding… not just the place, but in people.

Grateful for the ones who made this trip what it was. You know who you are 🤍

This is the kind of work that makes it all worth it. ☺️

Portugal has shaped the way I see travel.

It’s not just the beauty, it’s the small details.
The architecture. The tiles. The way a street can feel both lived-in and timeless.

Over the years, I realized I’m less interested in checking places off a list, and more interested in understanding them.

It’s the lens I bring when I design travel now, thoughtful, intentional, and shaped by the places themselves.

My talented 10-year-old niece put this together while we were cooking for our Lunar New Year’s dinner in Maui.

We spent most of the celebration in the kitchen cooking, laughing, and just being together.

Travel isn’t always about discovering somewhere new. Sometimes it’s about keeping traditions alive.
