Hello Welcome to our house in the Dordogne!
We chose this area because of the scenic valleys and hills, the gastronomic food specialties of Foie Gras, Duck and Goose, the fabulous open air markets full of fresh, seasonal produce or antiques, the village summer festivals biking, hiking and kayaking and of course the castles.
Our Village of Terrasson is beautiful because it has the Vezere River running through the village, it boast a medieval town on the hill and an 18th century town on the main square. There are lovely gardens to visit, alleyways to explore, wonderful restaurants, bakeries and butcher shops which all give the visitor a true sense of enchanting it is to live in a French Village.
Within 20 minutes of the house you can visit 4 castles such as Hauteford or the Chateau de Losse. Our neighbour, the Village of Montignac hosts a famous international music festival in July and Sarlat is full of antique dealers, restaurants and hosts open-air plays surrounded by the village setting.
We never tire of our day visits to nearby villages or markets and the house is within 45 minutes to the vineyards of Bergerac or an hour from the wine Chateaux of Bordeaux.
Dordogne is a hidden treasure of France, still not explored by North Americans boasting warm summers of little humidity and temperate winters with little frost. An area to be enjoyed year round.
