Our popular ‘Film Sets and Flapjacks’ social walk is this coming Sunday from Buckden!

We have a few spots left so if you’d like to join us, you can book here: www.muddybootswalkingholidays.com/muddy-boots-social-walks.

It’s a gorgeous circuit, taking in big views, waterfalls, riverside, hay meadows and the most beautifully situated farm in the Dales!

We stop in at Yockenthwaite Farm to chat to Liz, the owner, about life in the Dales, what it’s been like to have their home used as a film set in All Creatures Great and Small, and their farm diversification into delicious granola! Plus we get to try one of her fantastic flapjacks! 😋

Hope to see you there!

Is there anything better than this time of year when you can stumble upon sights like these in little patches of woodland around the country?!

Interesting bluebell fact - nearly half the world’s bluebells are found in the UK! They’re actually quite rare in other places.

Where are your favourite spots to see bluebells? Let us know your top tips!

Or if you’re looking for ideas, head to our blog (link in bio) for some of our favourite places to see bluebells in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

Making the most of the sunshine this week to continue reviewing our walk route notes! ☀️

This one is a linear walk on our ‘Meander through Swaledale’ route, going from Langthwaite in Arkengarthdale, through Reeth to end in Low Row in Swaledale.

It’s a beautiful and varied walk, including gentle strolls along Arkle Beck and the River Swale, traditional Dales villages, rolling farmland, some more remote feeling moorland sections and stunning views throughout! 🤩

We always try to review our route notes when we haven’t done them in a little while, to check nothing has changed, update for any new signage, have a look at any new cafes/pubs etc that are options for stops on the walk, to make sure all of our customers have the most up to date information.

What do you think?! ⛺️👌

Matt had a stunning evening for a wild camp not far from the summit of Slight Side, with fantastic views to Scafell Pike… but how would you rate his tent pitching skills?!

Is it a 10/10 or can you spot some room for improvement? Let us know! 😁

(NB guy ropes were pegged out after the video ended! 🤣)

This is also a good example of how to avoid the crowds on a wild camp - you don’t need to be on a well known summit or by a tarn to get stunning views. There are thousands of places you’re almost guaranteed to have to yourself if you give it a bit of thought!

And of course pitch late, leave early and leave no trace! 👍

Follow along on our hike up Skiddaw! ⛰️🥾

Matt was out making the most of the sunshine earlier this week on a circular walk up Skiddaw from Keswick. As the fourth highest mountain in England, Skiddaw offers stunning views both from the summit and all the way along the route.

This walk is one of the circular options on our new ‘Journey through the Lakes’ walking holiday – full details available on our website or drop us a line with any questions.

Our walking holidays in Swaledale have been really popular so far this year, and for good reason!

This area combines stunning scenery, traditional villages, and miles and miles of quiet footpaths! And as an added bonus, you get to visit some of the filming locations used in the recent Wuthering Heights adaptation!

Our routes take you through peaceful Arkengarthdale and through Swaledale, visiting the charming villages of Langthwaite, Reeth, Low Row, Gunnerside, Muker and Keld!

As there is not a lot of accommodation in this peaceful part of the Yorkshire Dales, things do tend to get booked up further in advance than on a lot of our other routes so, if you’re interested in doing a trip in Swaledale this year, now is a good time to get in touch!

Made the most of a stunning, cold day at the weekend to head up into the Langdale Pikes.

This has long been one of our favourite parts of the Lake District and it was our eldest’s first visit, so a special day, and the Langdale Pikes definitely have a new fan!

There are many variations of this walk - today it was up Stickle Ghyll to Stickle Tarn and on to the summits of Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle, Pike O’Stickle and Loft Crag before descending down Mark’s Gate.

Our ‘Heart of Lakeland’ walking holiday has a slightly different version - hitting the first three of those summits but then extending the route to Stake Pass and down through the stunning Mickleden valley. Full details on the website, as always 😁
