⚠️🚧 A5084 CONISTON / TORVER ELECTRICITY UPGRADES 🚧⚠️

🟠Further information has been received about the works being carried out.🟠

Electricity North West will be carrying out utility works around Torver and the over approximately 13 months. The works will involve phased road closures and temporary speed restrictions.

⚠️ 40mph Speed Restrictions
Temporary 40mph speed limits will be in place at various locations on Rectory Lane and the A5084, including sections near the U5048 and U5082 junctions.

⚠️10mph Speed Restrictions
Temporary 10mph speed limits will be in place on sections of Rectory Lane and the A5084, including areas near the U5048 and U5082 junctions.

⛔️ Road Closures – A5084 Torver
Closures will affect five sections of the A5084:

📍Approximately 1.2km, starting 515m south of the U5042 junction.

📍Approximately 745m, starting 2km south east of the U5042 junction.

📍Approximately 580m, extending south west from the U5048 junction.

📍Approximately 510m, starting 310m north of the U5082 junction.

📍Approximately 800m, starting 91m south east of the U5080 junction.

⚠️ Diversion Routes

Northbound traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of the A5084, A5092 (Greenodd), A590 (Newby Bridge), A592, Rayrigg Road, A591, Ambleside Road, Lake Road, A5075 and A593.

Southbound traffic: Via the unrestricted sections of the A5084, A593 (Coniston), Rothay Road, Kelsick Road, Lake Road, A591, Ambleside Road, Rayrigg Road, A592, A590 (Newby Bridge) and A5093 (Greenodd).

🚲 Pedestrians and Cyclists
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be maintained throughout the restriction.

🚨 Emergency Services
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of this restriction.

🚧 Urgent resurfacing works on the A594 at Dovenby 🚧

Connect Roads on behalf of Cumberland Council will be carrying out essential carriageway resurfacing on the A594 at Dovenby from Monday 12 October for up to three days.

To complete the work safely, the road will be closed in phases with signed diversion routes in place:

📍 Phase 1: 6.00am Monday 12 October to 6.00am Wednesday 14 October: A594 closed between M-Sport Junction and Dearham Tollbar Junction.
🚗 Access to M-Sport and Dovenby village will be available via the A595 and Cockermouth Roundabout (Belle Vue).

📍 Phase 2: 6.00am Wednesday 14 October to 8.00pm Thursday 15 October: A594 closed between Cockermouth Roundabout (Belle Vue) and M-Sport Junction.
🚗 Access to M-Sport and Dovenby village will be available via the A596 from Maryport.

✅ Access for residents and businesses will be maintained where it is safe to do so.
✅ Emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will have access throughout the works.

These improvements will provide a smoother, safer and more reliable road surface for everyone using this important route.

Sections of Church Street, Griffin Street and Prince’s Street in Broughton In Furness, will be closed whilst Westmorland and Furness Highways carry out highway works.

This is anticipated to take up to 8 days.

📍 Location of works:

1. Church Street, from its junction with the A593, extending in an overall south easterly direction to its junction with Griffin Street.
2. Griffin Street, from its junction with Church Street, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with Market Street.
3. Prince’s Street, from its junction with Griffin Street, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Station Road.

⚠️ Alternative Route:
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and made available via the C5009, A595 and the unrestricted section of the C5051.

🚲 A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be maintained throughout the restriction.

🚨 Emergency Services:
