A huge thanks goes to Bacta Charitable Trust for the generous donation of £500 which we will use to cover the next bulk food order we require for the emergency food boxes. As you can see three other local charities also benefitted. Irene Campbell was asked to nominate the beneficiaries of this donation and we thank Irene for including North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Please remember that the Community Food shop will be open on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings between 10pm and 11pm. If you could pop out before bedtime we would be delighted to have your assistance by taking the surplus food items home. Because a lot of food is "Use by" we need to destroy everything we still have once it passes midnight. To avoid the food going to waste we are hosting these two special sessions. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for helping us by taking what you can use.

The wonderful Largs M&S have again provided the Community Food Shop with a large quantity of baked goods, cakes, cookings and scones and meals. We are open today between 3-5pm. Call in to take away what you can use.

As a pilot we will be opening on a Tuesday and Wednesday between 10pm and 11pm. We currently get a lot of food items which have a "Used by" date and must be given away by midnight on the day collected. If you can find the energy to call in at 10pm we would be delighted to have you help us avoid food waste.

Thanks to Largs M&S we received a large donation of fresh food. This weeks donation includes chicken , haggis, fish, puff pastry, chips, Dals, potatoes, chicken curry. Cakes, cookies and bread along with parsnips. We look forward to you calling in and take what you can use.
Thankfully the short stay hostel took the "Use by" items that could not be frozen. However, due to the current quantities of "Used by" we are going to open the shop between 10pm and 11pm as a trial to see if interested people would like to pop in to see what is available. That will be starting this Wednesday 26th 2026.

North Ayrshire Foodbank have become the beneficiary of the generosity of the Marks and Spencers Largs store though our partnership with Neighbourly. We had a great time last night with the staff who gave us a wonderful range of food items. If you are appreciative of reads, cakes, cookies as well as refrigerated foods then please stop off at the Community Food shop today. We even have a magnificent range of beautiful flowers to grace your homes.All free for the taking, help us to reduce food going to waste by popping in.

North Ayrshire Foodbank works in partnership with Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco throughout the year to run Food drives within their stores.

Each event gives us a wonderful opportunity to meet their shoppers who share our compassion to help the vulnerable and feed the hungry.

The food drives happen throughout the year and each store run special events. Asda in June, Morrisons March and September and Tesco at the end of November.

If you can spare 1 to 4 hours on either a Friday or a Saturday we would welcome you becoming a member of the team. We are very keen to gain extra help for the upcoming Tesco event (26-28th November at all three superstores - Irvine, Saltcoats and Kilbirnie.

The Purple Phone – Scotland’s Economic Abuse Helpline – is available across Scotland! It open to women across Scotland and expanded to include a webchat function on our website.

From Shetland to Selkirk, women can contact The Purple Phone to seek advice, support and guidance relating to economic abuse. Our specialist money advisors will provide confidential advice and guidance, support and validation, as well as signposting to relevant services.

The Purple Phone can be reached on 0343 841 0132 or via webchat at www.financiallyincluded.co.uk and is open Monday 16:00-19:00, Wednesday 10:00-13:00, Thursday 13:00-16:00 and Friday 10:00-13:00. Translators are available on request.

A huge thanks goes to all the supportive and generous shoppers who go to our Tesco stores in Kilbirnie, Irvine and Saltcoats. Over the summer holidays staff are making available bagged groceries for shoppers to uplift, purchase and leave in the drop bins. The contents we requested were Tinned rice, custard and potatoes. We are now receiving bagged goods from the 1st week of the six week appeal. Thanks you stores for making this opportunity available by bagging the goods. As Tesco tells us "Every little helps".

The Community Food shop is offering local children a free bag of healthy fruit over the summer holidays. All the children have to do is call into the shop and make their selection. Apples, bananas and oranges are available. We open Monday to Friday between 3pm until 5pm.
