Very good advice if your are heading to France for the Worlds.

Still not too late to enter: https://www.itcaworld.org/events/topper-worlds-2025/

There's something truly special about a sailing championship. It's more than just a regatta; it's an opportunity to challenge yourself, explore a new venue, and become part of a community that shares your passion for sailing. Whether you’re fizzing with excitement or feeling super nervous, good pr...

Topper Russ Catches Up with Steve Cockerill – Quiberon Tips & Tricks 🇫🇷⛵

With the ITCA World Topper Championships fast approaching, I caught up with my good friend Steve Cockerill from Rooster Sailing to chat all things Quiberon.

Steve has spent plenty of time sailing in Quiberon and knows exactly what makes this venue so special. Here are his top tips for sailors heading to France this summer:

🌊 Expect variety – Quiberon can throw everything at you. Be prepared for flat water, waves, light winds and strong sea breezes, sometimes all in the same week.

💨 Master the sea breeze – The thermal breeze can build quickly during the day, so keep an eye on the forecast and be ready to adapt your sailing style as conditions change.

⚓ Boat preparation is key – Check everything before racing. Small details make a big difference at a World Championship.

👀 Look outside the boat – The sailors who succeed in Quiberon are often the ones who spot the pressure, shifts and wave patterns first.

🥤 Hydrate and recover – Long days on the water can be tiring. Make sure you’re eating well, drinking plenty and getting enough rest between races.

😊 Enjoy the experience – Whether it’s your first Worlds or you’re returning for another go, take it all in. You’ll make friends from around the world and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Steve’s golden nugget? “Stay curious, keep learning every day, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes – that’s how you improve.”

A huge thank you to Steve for taking the time to share his advice, and we look forward to seeing many of you putting these tips into practice in Quiberon!

Russ’s Reflections – National Series 2025/26 ⛵

Five events, countless miles travelled, every type of weather imaginable, and more bacon rolls than I’d care to admit!

From limit pushing conditions at Draycote, frozen fingers in Weymouth, sailors finding their confidence at Rutland, parents becoming full-time TracTrac analysts at Hayling, and a thrilling series finale at Grafham, it’s been an incredible National Series.

What has impressed me most isn’t just the racing—it’s the friendships, sportsmanship, determination, and willingness of sailors to help each other both on and off the water.

A huge thank you to all the sailors, parents, volunteers, race teams, and host clubs who make it all possible. Watching sailors grow in confidence and achieve their goals is what makes this role so rewarding.

Now, after five fantastic events, I think we’ve all earned a lie down… although I suspect most of you are already thinking about the next regatta!

See you on the circut and good luck to everyone heading to Quiberon! 🇫🇷⛵

With the football World Cup always bringing together the very best talent from around the globe, it got me thinking… if I could pick my own World Cup squad, who would make the team?

Not footballers this time, but the fantastic brands and partners who help make Topper Sailboats what it is today! ⛵🌍

From sails and ropes to hardware and clothing, every player in this lineup brings something special to the team.

A huge thank you to all of our partners for being part of Team Topper. Together, we’re helping sailors perform at their best on waters all around the world.

🏆 Who’s making your World Cup Dream Team?

This week I caught up with my friend , who is competing at the ILCA Masters World Championship in Greece.

I asked Jon if he had any advice for our Topper sailors heading into the final National Series event of the season at Grafham Water this weekend.

Jon’s message was simple: sailing is for everyone, it’s an incredibly enjoyable sport, and success comes from marginal gains. Work hard, keep learning, and most importantly, have fun!

A huge thank you to Jon for taking time out of his championship schedule to wish our sailors the best for the weekend.

From everyone at Topper, we wish Jon the best of luck in Greece and look forward to following his progress.

Good luck to all our Topper sailors competing at Grafham Water this weekend. It’s been a fantastic National Series, and we’re set for an exciting finale!

Let’s go smash it 💥
