Summerfields Miniature Railways - our running season starts around the end of March and runs through to the end of October. We open to the public two or sometimes three Sundays each month, Bank Holiday Mondays and most Wednesdays during school holidays (see our website for dates). The Summerfields Railways have been built by the Bedford Model Engineering Society as a place for members to run their

locos. It is actually three railways all linked together, Summerfields, Winterfield and Springfield. On certain days of the year we open our railway to the public so that you can come along and see what we do. For a small fare you can take a trip on our steam or diesel service around any of our three railways. Its all great fun for kids and adults seem to love it too! The railway is the public face of the hobby, and operates several times a year, in fine weather to the immense satisfaction of lots of children, (and say it not to a lot of dads and grandfathers who cant resist taking a ride). We now have a purpose built log cabin style building which forms our clubroom for our evening meetings. This building also provides for our Station Buffet on public running days. Please visit our website if you are interested in becoming a member. You do not have to be a member to visit on one of our public open days.

Wot, no trains? Well yes naturally there will be trains running next Sunday 26th when we open again for public running. But, we are also expecting a visit from a number of classic cars. The VW Beetle will be with us from the morning onwards and a number of Standard Motor Company vehicles should be joining us for the afternoon. Come and take a look and have a train ride.

It remains to be seen if it will be "ice cream weather" but with a new freezer now installed we should at least have them available! That will be alongside our normal fare in the Station Buffet.

Rides start from 10:30 with the last train (non-stop) from Haynes End around 15:45. We close at 16:00.

Our flyer with all this years public running dates is here at last!

We are open again tomorrow (Weds 8th) on which they say could turn out to be the warmest day of the year so far!
Unfortunately, our freezer packed up at the weekend which resulted in us having to dump all of our stock of ice creams and lollies. The replacement freezer will not arrive until next week, so we have to apologise and say that we will not have frozen items available in the buffet. We will of course have the usual array of drinks and crisps/cakes etc.
First train departs Haynes End around 10:30, the last (non-stop) departure will be around 15:45 and we close at 16:00
