Navigation Boat Movers provide a professional boat moving service on the waterways of the UK. This is what inspired us to set up as professional boat movers.

About Us

Navigation Boat Movers is a business set up by David and Imogen to provide canal boat owners with a professional service to move their boats for them on the inland waterways. We wanted to offer a professional service at a reasonable cost to those who need a boat moving but may not be able to complete the boat move, are not confident in doing so, or would appreciate an experienced crew on

board. We now have multiple years of experience moving our boat and many others along the Inland Waterways of England. Both myself, David, and Imogen are qualified helmsmen with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) and have Public Liability insurance with Mercia Marine of £2million. We also have many hours of hands-on experience moving a variety of boats. Your boat would be in safe hands with us. Being liveaboard boaters ourselves, we know how important your boat is to you and will take the utmost care of your pride and joy.

We at Navigation Boat Movers would like to thank all of our wonderful customers over these past years for your business and support.

With all of the issues that arose from last year's mass of closures around the network being things to a standstill, we were forced to find alternative work to see us through.

As of this moment, we are not currently taking any future bookings until further notice, but if anyone would like any advice or suggestions for alternatives, please feel free to contact us for help.

Again many thanks to everyone we have worked with and for, and all the best to the future of everyone out there on the waters.

This is a few photos of a boat move we completed in 6 days from Whilton Marina to Newbury.

She was a wonderful 40' narrowboat going to her new owners.

A lovely trip involving the Grand Union canal, Oxford canal, River Thames, and Kennet & Avon Canal. (Looks like we made it through before some new stoppages on the route)..

We always love taking boats onto the Thames.

This was a family trip out for the afternoon and we just so happened to end up at this popular boating location.

It always feels strange to be in a boating area and not be working or with our own boat.

Amazing pie, I highly recommend!!!

This is narrowboat 'Aloysius', which we had the pleasure of moving for a lovely couple through London, from City Mills Lock near Bow Creek of the River Lea along the Paddington branch of the Grand Union canal, onwards up the Grand Union to Watford.

Have a look at the photos and see if you can recognise any of the famous sights.

We had the best weather for this trip, which makes a nice change for us as boat movers, and met some wonderful people along the way.

We had the pleasure of moving narrowboat 'Pip' along the Coventry Canal onto the Ashby Canal before the weekend.

She is a stunning boat, and thankfully nice and warm inside which was very much needed after a day on the cut with this weather!

Last week we completed the move of Narrowboat Eff N Ern from Atherstone to New & Used Boat Co at Mercia Marina.

She was a lovely and very unique boat with a fabulous area for socialising, for passengers when cruising, or basically a conservatory on a boat!
What a fab place to sit for a spot of painting!

She even had recently fitted new beta 43 engine, which never missed a beat. She was a lovely boat to helm.

Here are some photos from our recent move of narrowboat 'Meander Lily' from Enslow to Whilton Marina.

This was completed on behalf of the family of the late owner. Never in my time boat moving have I had so many people along the entire route recognise a boat and its owner before. So many people wanted to come out, see her pass, and say a kind hello.

It was a very moving journey.

She was a wonderful boat and a pleasure to take to Whilton Marina.

A few photos from the move of narrowboat 'Bradz Pit' (brilliant name) from Nottingham Castle Waterside and Marina to New and Used Boats at Mercia Marina that we completed earlier this week.

We had to wait a short while to be able to move this boat due to the high levels on the river Trent. Even by the end of this day, the levels were back into red.

We also had a boat pass us going the other direction that I have had the pleasure of moving before, narrowboat 'Wine Down', something that hasn't happened to myself before.

Look out for this boat appearing at New and Used soon at Mercia Marina.
