📣 Today marks the start of our exciting heritage commuter trial service between Bewdley and Birmingham - 56 years since the line closed to commuters!
Working in partnership with West Midlands Rail Executive and the Severn Valley Railway, we’re delighted to launch this new weekday service, enabling residents of Bewdley and wider areas to travel by train to Birmingham, Worcester and beyond, with just a short convenient connection at Kidderminster.
Operating every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the trial will run for eight weeks from today, 1 September 2026, helping to explore how heritage railways can support local communities and provide sustainable transport links.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this trial possible. We look forward to welcoming passengers aboard and hearing their feedback over the coming weeks.
We’re a charitable incorporated organisation, operating and maintaining a fleet of eight heritage diesel railcars at the Severn Valley Railway. More details about our group can be found at svr-dmu.org.uk
