The Tyseley Miniature Railway Project was established to provide a facility for refurbishing and operating the historical Sutton Collection at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Birmingham 🚂

It is a volunteer led 15” gauge project run by a team of passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

The team are looking to gain funding to accelerate their refurbishment efforts and provide opportunities for people of all ages to get experience in railway engineering and operation.

We are a group of volunteers restoring the rolling stock of the much missed Sutton Miniature Railway. Based in Birmingham, we hope to run the trains again in the city they once called home and revive memories for the thousands of Brummies who rode behind them in the 1950's and 1960's.

New boiler tubes have just arrived and the bottom end of the tender is looking great.

We'll be at the Warley Model Railway Club & Exhibition this weekend, with a partially restored Sutton Belle. Please come and say hello.

We will be returning to Warley Model Railway Club & Exhibition at the NEC at the end of this month, in conjunction with our colleagues at Friends of Vintage Trains. We hope to have a small sales stand again so if you didn't manage to get to us last year we will have mugs and books available for sale.

In the meantime, here's a throwback to July when we were able to operate our first passenger carrying services during the open weekend. Admittedly, they could not run very far but they still happened and we had many people come and enjoy the newly restored coach 10. This video also shows railcar No. 4 running. Unfortunately this did not last very long due to issues with the engine, which our volunteers have been endeavouring to rectify to make No. 4 ready for service next time we can run.
