The countdown has begun for our Diesel Gala 2026 on the 25th to the 27th September!

We’re pleased to share the timetable for the Gala, so you can start planning your visit and make the most of a fantastic celebration of diesel traction at Bodmin Railway.

Locomotive allocations will be released in due course, subject to confirmation, availability, and maintenance requirements. Guest loco 31210 is booked to be running all three days

Keep your eyes peeled! We’ll be announcing which locomotives are working each service as soon as everything is confirmed.

Please remember that all locomotive allocations are subject to availability and operational requirements.

Join us Mid week for the yellow time table day, a great opportunity to enjoy our normal daily service steam locomotive 5552, alongside our much loved Bubble Car.

Whether you enjoy the noise and smells of heritage steam, or fancy popping on the Bubble Car and exploring the countryside through large panoramic windows. On our Yellow timetable you get to enjoy both!

Sit back and enjoy the journey on our steam locomotive and then hop aboard our Bubble for a different perspective.

Steam Driver Experience!

There is nothing quite like being on the footplate of a steam locomotive. As soon as you strike a match and light a fire in one, they come alive – the warmth from the fire, the smell of the hot steam oil, the sense of quiet power at your fingertips as you open the regulator and they start to move gently off.

We operate are driver days on selective dates throughout the year. A great opportunity to really experience life at the railway from our loco crew, who will be on hand to guide you through your railway adventure.

Get ready for our Autumn Diesel Gala, 25th–27th September 2026 !

Featuring guest locomotive Class 31; 31210, joining us courtesy of Hanson & Hall, joining our home fleet for the full three days.

Across all three days you can enjoy our home fleet which includes the our Class 47; 47306 ‘The Sapper’, Class 08; 08444, Class 121 Bubble Car; 121020 and subject to maintenance we will aim to run our Class 37; 37142.

Not only will our cafes be open alongside our wagon bar, but we will be firing up the BBQ at Bodmin General for all three days! The perfect accompaniment to a day of railway adventure.
