Greetings from Patong, Phuket! 🌴

I'm half way through my stay at Amari Phuket, and what a view this was to wake up to!

This contemporary, Thai-inspired resort sits on a secluded headland at the quieter, southern end of Patong Beach. It's tucked away from the buzz, yet the shops, restaurants and nightlife of Patong are only a short shuttle ride away. It's about an hour from the airport, too.

The majority of the resort’s rooms and suites have a balcony and sea views over Patong Bay, plus family rooms, one-bedroom suites and villas are available for those wanting extra space.

Facilities include three sea-facing pools, the beachfront setting, a kids' club, a lovely spa (as I found out 💆🏼‍♀️) , a gym and a choice of restaurants and bars.

It's a lovely all-rounder, ideal for couples wanting a relaxed base with views and for families who like a bit of space and a quieter spot to retreat to after a busy day.

Guide price - rates start from around £95 per room per night (room only), with sea-view rooms and suites sitting higher depending on season.

This morning we took a drive out to Phuket Old Town (about 30 mins away) for a mooch round the cute little shops and cafes.

Greetings from Kata, Phuket! 🌴

I'm staying at OZO Phuket tonight, and I wanted to share my own first impressions.

It's a lively, modern 4-star hotel, very much geared towards families, just a minute's walk from Kata Beach and surrounded by shops, cafés, restaurants and the night market.

A big draw for families with little ones is the free on-site water park, alongside three pools and playground.

It's a larger, buzzy property, so it suits families who want plenty going on rather than a secluded retreat.

For parents, there's a 24-hour gym and a daily happy hour from 5 - 7pm with most drinks buy one, get one free… Both perfect after a busy day at the beach, make your choice!

During my site inspection, I was shown a number of rooms including a one-bedroom suite with pool balcony, which I'd recommend for families of up to 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults and 1 child (maximum child age 12). Plenty of space to spread out, and the balcony is a lovely touch.

Pricing is mid-range, typically from around £55 to £75 per room per night, room only, depending on season and room type.

Families tend to stay for anything up to 10 - 14 nights, but my personal recommendation is a couple of nights at the start or end of a trip, as a fun, easy stopover on the way to or from the airport.

Just a whistle stop tonight before moving on tomorrow….

British Airways has revealed the refreshed cabins for its refurbished A380s, with new seats across First, Club, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller.

The upper deck is the headline: 106 Club Suites spread across the entire level, which BA describes as the world's largest business class cabin, cleverly divided into four zones so it feels welcoming rather than vast.

The suite is a refined evolution of the current design, with a fresh colour palette, new trims and added storage.

Downstairs, the new First suite, first unveiled in 2024, now comes with its very own mini bar, stocked with premium snacks and drinks.
