Keen for some more 27001 action and missed out last week?

It will be out hauling our diesel Saturday services this coming Saturday, the 15th of August. Five round trips starting at 10:15 from Bridge of Dun.

That’s a wrap on Sulzer Symphony 2026!

From the volunteers we would like to say a massive thank you to all the people who visited the railway over the last weekend. It was great to see many familiar faces and welcome plenty new ones to the railway too.

27001 proved very popular which we are glad of! (More from where that came from soon).The bustle at Bridge of Dun station was brilliant to see and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

We have also attached our “Where have you came from” map with everyone’s locations, this years winner won by slightly more than a country mile who was…from Canada 🇨🇦.

Sulzer Symphony 7th 8th 9th August 2026-TIMETABLE WITH LOCO ALLOCATION

Our Sulzer Symphony timetable with loco allocations are now live. We have also attached the vital bus timetable between Bridge of Dun and Montrose national rail station supplied by our good friends at Angus Transport Group!

27001 HAULS FIRST TRAIN ON CALEDONIAN RAILWAY AFTER 36 YEARS

We are incredibly pleased to announce that after a successful test run 27001…will in fact go to the ball next weekend giving us THREE Sulzer powered locomotives running at Sulzer Symphony 2026!

Pictured below are some of the team who have worked very hard to get the locomotive running again. Now we know you’ll be wanting to know what she’s doing and when. So after we have a celebratory dram tonight we’ll get right onto that for you…give us a couple of days, that sound good? See you then.

SULZER SYMPHONY 7th 8th 9th August 2026 UPDATE

What’s better than two sulzers?? How about THREE!? Things have been quiet on the old diesel weekend front recently but it’s not because we haven’t been busy…after a big push by our volunteers we are delighted to announce newly arrived 27001 to the lineup for our Sulzer Symphony weekend. This will be the first scheduled passenger train 27001 has hauled on the Caledonian Railway for 36 years and the first time it and sister 27 , D5370 will have hauled trains together for 40 years!

This of course is all subject to completion of a successful test run this coming Saturday as the loco has not done much work in the last couple of years. Usual caveats apply and all locomotives are subject to availability on the day. We look forward to seeing you all there.

CLASS 27 TO JOIN THE FLEET

We are delighted to announce that 27001 will be joining the Caledonian Railway’s diesel fleet. We will carry out the required works to return ‘001 to service and when it’s ready to haul trains we will let you know! Our thanks go to the Class 27 Locomotive group for allowing us to look after this piece of British history.

Despite it being a bit dreich today things for tomorrow are looking up! Join us for the start of our diesel Saturdays at the Caledonian Railway. We’ll be running 5 round trips from Bridge of Dun starting at 10:15.
