Since the box trailer is finished the queue has come to the Schmitz curtain trailer.

What started off as an idea to replace the floor boards have turned into a complete refurbishment project.

We started by stripping everything down to see how bad things are. And to our surprise the Schmitz galvanised chassis has stood up to the test of time very well. There was minor oxidation of the galvanised metal, but nothing too serious.

A relatively slow process, but we're moving forward. At the end we should see a trailer which will have a second life injected in to it.

After a couple months of work, the trailer is finally finished and ready to hit the road.

Multiple things were done to ensure the trailer is in the best possible condition it can be.

Unfortunately it will not be staying within our fleet, but nonetheless it will keep the new owner happy and us more experienced with undertaking such restoration projects.

This is just a small reflection of the work we have done since the Russia-Ukraine war started in 2022.

We helped our friends from Forpost Aid Ukraine to source, transport all types of vehicles ranging from a quad bike to fire engines. These vehicles made a significant impact on the ability for the defenders to move around the combat zone and evacuate civilians and wounded personnel not to mention responding to the aftermath of bombardments of infrastructure.

The tasks sometimes included getting a non running fire engine on another vehicle using available things at hand (an old SUV and a light duty winch from a recovery truck in our case as can be seen in the pictures below). Knowing that it will have a significant impact for our friends in Ukraine and with great willpower not even the locked out brakes were an issue for us and we got the job done and of it went to Ukraine to be repaired and handed over to the firefighters operating near the frontline.
