15/10/2026 - 16:45 Service Update

Due to severe congestion across Burton caused by the earlier closure of St Peter’s Bridge, services are currently experiencing delays. Although the bridge has now reopened, there is still a significant backlog of traffic affecting our network.

Current delays are as follows:

Route 21 – All journeys are operating approximately 30 minutes late.
Route 4 – Currently operating approximately 35 minutes late.
Route X12 – Currently operating approximately 30 minutes late. Due to heavy congestion around Tesco Island, inbound journeys are diverting via Anglesey Road.
Route 12 – The 16:45 departure is currently delayed in traffic approaching Burton and is expected to operate approximately 30 minutes late.
Route 22 – Currently operating approximately 20 minutes late.
Route 2 – Currently operating approximately 20 minutes late.
Route 9 – Currently operating approximately 20 minutes late, which is also causing knock-on delays to the 7 and 7A services.

08/10/2026: 09:30 - Service update:

Route 9 Service Update

We are sorry to report that, due to a road traffic accident (RTA), the 08:55 Route 9 service from Ashby is currently unable to continue its journey while awaiting police attendance at the scene.

At present, no other Route 9 journeys are affected.

07/10/2026 - 08:45 Service Update

As the morning rush hour is now underway, we are experiencing heavy congestion across parts of Burton, resulting in delays to a number of services.

The following routes are currently running behind schedule:

X12 - The 08:10 departure from Burton is currently operating approximately 30 minutes late. This is also having a knock-on impact on return journeys from Lichfield.

Route 9 - Currently running around 20 minutes late due to delays carried forward from its previous operation on the 7A service.

Route 21 - All journeys are currently operating approximately 15 minutes late.

Route 12 - All journeys are also experiencing delays of approximately 15 minutes.

Changes to Service 21. From 1st November 2026

There will be some changes to Service 21 from 1st November affecting both the timetable and the route.

A 30 minute frequency will be maintained across the core parts of the 21 route, however, the 21 service will no longer serve Stapenhill and Linton. This is to improve overall reliability of the service and due to low passenger numbers through Linton.

📍 Service will continue to be maintained through Stapenhill by routes 2, 21E & 22.
📍 Services 19C, 21E & 22 will continue to serve Linton.
📍 There will be no changes to Service 21E which will remain the same as currently.

Burton Statutes Fair.
From 16:00 Saturday 3rd until 04:00 Wednesday 7th October

During Burton Statutes Fair, bus stops on New Street, Lichfield Street and the bus-only part of High Street will not be in use. Stops shown below are where buses will Pick Up from. Buses may drop off at different points when arriving into Burton.
Buses also stop at Burton Railway Station or Bargates if part of their usual route.

Route 402A: We are sorry to advise that the service is currently experiencing delays following a road traffic collision. Police are in attendance at the scene, and a replacement bus is being prepared for dispatch from the depot to minimise disruption to the service.

Route 21: Due to the road closure on Church Street, all Route 21 services are diverting via George Street in both directions.
