Congratulations to Nicola Po***ck and Emma Whalley, who have won employee of the month for March 2026.

Both Nicola and Emma were nominated for their initiative, creativity, and commitment to improving safety across the business through the design and delivery of an innovative, hands-on accident and emergency drill. Their realistic and well planned scenario demonstrated strong leadership, teamwork, and a clear focus on employee safety. The session achieved excellent engagement and has shown strong potential for lasting positive impact as it is rolled out across other locations. Well done both, keep up the great work!

Are you ready for some striking new ‘heavenly goods vehicles’?

To celebrate our long-term logistics partnership with bakery client Bells of Lazonby, we’ve hit the road with three bold new trailers promoting their flagship brand We Love Cake.

They will transport sweet treats from Bells’ iconic Cumbrian bakery in Lazonby to supermarkets, retailers and distribution centres across the UK – and with one We Love Cake selling every minute in the UK, that’s a lot of cake to deliver.

The SDC manufactured trailers offer an improved payload and a number of aero features, helping reduce drag and emissions, and they are emblazoned with clever strap-lines linking bakery with road haulage – so make sure you look out for them on the road.

Ben Smith-Armstrong, Managing Director at Wm Armstrong, said: “We have developed a strong and enduring working relationship with Bells of Lazonby over the years. As well-established family businesses based in Cumbria, we both share a commitment to quality and integrity, and these common values have been instrumental in building a successful and long-standing partnership.”

As National Apprenticeship Week 2026 draws to a close, we’ve got some final thoughts from three of our apprentices at Wm Armstrong, who have all benefitted from choosing the apprenticeship pathway to develop new skills and progress their career options.

Iona Gibson, business administration apprentice: “My career direction has changed significantly. I have found business administration far more rewarding. I now aspire to progress into a management role, either managing a department or a business in the future.”

Luke Langley, business administration apprentice: “My confidence has grown. I learnt about communication skills and I now find it a lot easier to speak with people. I have gained knowledge of computers and other software. I am really proud to have completed it.”

Daniel Byers, motor vehicle apprentice: “I get to do a big variety of engine jobs, which are the most enjoyable,” he said. “My apprenticeship has helped me learn how to work better in a team and use my intuition. I started off knowing very little about vehicles and I’m proud of how I have come through and got to where I am now.”

Well done everyone!
