A fantastic turn-out for our home energy event on Saturday in Auchencairn. Many thanks to our partners Home Energy Scotland and our other expert speakers John Higgs and Joe and Joanna, who gave very informative talks. Thanks also to the attendees who were so engaged with the topics and asked many interesting questions. We all left much more informed about the options for home energy improvements and in particular the considerations needed when installing heat pumps. As ever, a big thank-you is also due to our ACT volunteers whose efforts make these events happen and who give their time generously for our community.

The growing season is in full swing at the Auchencairn community allotment with peas, beans, brassicas, tomatoes, cucumbers and even watermelons putting in an appearance. All of this veg growing is supported by a vibrant wildlife habitat which provides food for pollinators and other beneficial insects. Diversity is key to a balanced ecosystem, and using permaculture principles, Jen and the other community growers grow healthy food in alignment with nature. To find out more, join them on Mondays 1:30-4:30 in the allotment to help with a variety of seasonal tasks.

Allotment Happenings in Auchencairn!
Community grower Jen and the allotment volunteers have been busy planting, watering, cutting and harvesting as the growing season gets well under way. The climate crisis poses a profound risk to food security, so building and sharing the skills to grow good, local, healthy food has never been more important. If you'd like to know more and get involved in this important project for our community resilience, please pop down to the community allotment on Mondays 1:30-4:30, all are welcome.
