🌊 World Ocean Day 🌊

The sea has shaped Charlestown for over 200 years.
It carried copper, china clay and cargo ships around the world. It brought livelihoods, stories and connections to distant shores. Today, it continues to shape our harbour in ways both visible and hidden.

Just beyond the harbour lies one of the UK's largest known seagrass meadows and the largest known subtidal seagrass bed in Cornwall. Alongside ancient maerl beds - a slow-growing, coral-like seaweed that can take thousands of years to form - these remarkable underwater habitats provide shelter for marine life, help improve water quality and store significant amounts of carbon.

We're excited to be exploring opportunities to work with through the Tor to Shore programme, which aims to connect nature recovery from Helman Tor to the waters of St Austell Bay. By recognising the connections between our landscape, rivers and sea, the project seeks to protect and restore the habitats that make this coastline so special.

As a working historic harbour, we believe preserving maritime heritage and protecting the marine environment go hand in hand. The stories of Charlestown don't end at the water's edge - they're written beneath the waves too.

It’s time ….! FRIDAY 31ST JULY 2026

Regatta Rocks returns once again with a banging night of music! First up on the stage are Tregony Teachers - a very popular Cornish band to get the evening off to a great start with their usual powerhouse performance!
Next up are The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys - Cornwall's premier live Queen tribute band. Known for their flamboyant stage presence, legendary short shorts, and stunning vocals!
Finally the evening moves to the 1980's with 'the best 80's tribute band in the Universe'. 80's Mania bring you sounds of this decade - like Live Aid meets Top of the Pops. From the talent pool that brought us the Abba Tribute last year, this show includes ‘artists’ such as Kim Wilde, ADAM ANT, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Soft Cell, MADONNA, Dead or Alive, NENA, ERASURE, Boy George, DURAN DURAN, Madness, Bananarama, Tony Hadley, Cyndi Lauper and many many more ...

Sadly we’re having to cancel the Willow workshops tomorrow on Charlestown Harbour

Although the rain is due to clear for heritage day, the winds are looking strong with gusts of over 40mph

As the workshops are under gazebo cover, I have decided to not go ahead for the safety of those attending as well as running the workshops

Sorry for any disappointment, if you’ve purchased a ticket already I’ll be in contact and you’ll be receive a full refund

The next heritage day I’ll be weaving at will be July 11th so keep eyes peeled for workshops coming up that weekend

Eyes Along the Coast 👀⚓

The volunteers of National Coastwatch Charlestown Station are joining us for a special Open Day at Charlestown Harbour this Saturday 6th June, from 10am - 4pm.

Come and meet the team, hear about the lookout station and learn more about the important work NCI does helping keep people safe along our coastline. There’ll also be live sea shanties from local groups Stunsils and the Dreckly Boys throughout the day.

Whether you’re a regular sea swimmer, sailor, paddleboarder, walker or simply curious about the harbour and coastline, everyone is welcome.

🌿 Heritage Day returns to Charlestown Harbour this Saturday! 🌿

Join willow artist Jasmine Fassenfelt for a day of hands-on weaving workshops by the water.
Whether you'd like to create a dragonfly, fish mobile or lantern, or simply drop in and try your hand at a willow wand, heart, star or bird feeder, there's something for all ages and abilities.

No need to worry if you haven't booked ahead - there is currently space available on all workshops, and drop-in sessions will be running throughout the day.
